Gas milage

What kind of milage are you getting. I just took a 450 mile trip on a toll road doing 75mph avereage with 33.7mpg with stick shift in a 2002. All numbers according to the onboard computer at 38F.

Ammi 02-25-2004 08:49 PM

that's good. Nowadays, I only get 375 miles w/ full tank

5thgen2nr 02-25-2004 09:34 PM

The most I've ever gone is about 400....33 mpg is insane :O

husker_max 02-26-2004 06:48 AM

I thought the on board computer was no where near accurate??

CCS2k1Max 02-26-2004 06:53 AM

Yep, the consensus is 3-4 MPG overly optimistic. If you went 450 miles on one tank, it should be anywhere from 25 to 29 MPG (15.5 gal to 18 gal fillup).

Ka$hThaRipper 02-26-2004 07:53 AM

yeah 33 is insane, that's like sayin u got 610 miles to one tank

husker_max 02-26-2004 07:56 AM

Ya...you own a $30,000 calculator that can't divide two numbers accurately.

MONTE 01&97 SE 02-26-2004 08:38 AM

Its pretty accurate on long trips at steady speeds, but in the city thats a different story.

CCS2k1Max 02-26-2004 08:57 AM

What is your definition of pretty accurate? I haven't seen anybody go much past the 500 mile per tank barrier, not to say 600 miles. I'd like to see what his DTE was after 450 miles and 33.7 MPG.

i never have gotten better then 22 mpg most of the time i get 19 to 20 with mostly highway driving but i drive like i stole it!

schernov 02-26-2004 10:25 AM

Sorry for confusion. I DID NOT drive 450 mi on one tank .. actually maybe I could have, but I refueled early. It was a 450 Mile Trip that gave me 33.7MPG.

jgibson146 02-26-2004 02:16 PM

per computer, I get 23mpg mixed driving, and 28/29mpg hwy. I'm Happy.

trey 02-26-2004 02:46 PM

just calculated it today ( not using the trip on dash)and got 213 miles on 14.2 gallons, thats about 15mpg, ugh, i hate winter.

It's only accurate for people that believe what it displays. I don't rely on it for mpg. I always keep it on the outside temp. It's more accurate than the fuel economy numbers. :grinno:
