Need pics for spring comparison gallery - Please READ THE RULES! :)

When I was shopping for springs, a big part of my decision was the cosmetic factor. I see so many threads asking "How far do these springs drop?" I think it would be great to direct people to a gallery for comparison! Can you guys help me out by posting pics of your drop?

The rules for pics I'll use in the gallery:
1. Must be a 5th gen.
2. Must be a dead on side shot of entire car - no angles
3. Must have stock rims (since it's difficult to compare drops on different wheel sizes)
4. By posting, you give me permission to use your pic - I will credit the owner's screen name.
5. Shot should be 500 pixels x 375 pixels (Cardomain standard size).
6. Lighting should be bright - to clearly display the wheel gap (or lack thereof!)
7. Car should be centered top to bottom and left to right in the shot and take up nearly the entire width of the pic.
8. Pic should be high quality - No cell phone shots please! :grinno:
9. Post your ride height front and rear (the measurement from the ground to the middle of your fender). This is important since some springs drop more than they claim. Please do NOT include these numbers on the pic itself (for consistency).
10. Be sure to mention which springs you're running!
11. Shot must be taken relatively level with the door handle (no shots from above or below to emphasize or mask the drop)
12. Front wheels should be pointed straight ahead

Example pic:
http://images.cardomain.com/member_i...6_179_full.jpg

I know this seems really picky, but the only way this gallery will be fair and of value is if all the shots are as similar as possible. **Don't be afraid to whip out your digicam because many of you may not have a pic that fits the requirements!** I'll use the first shot I recieve for each spring offered for the 5th gen that fits the requirements above. Thanks in advance guys and bring on the shots!

Kloog - Your car is SICK!! But crap, I should have mentioned another requirement: stock rims. Otherwise, it's hard to tell how low one spring is compared to another. Sorry I didn't clarify earlier man. I'll edit my orig. post.

Teins and KYB GR2s in my sig....on 18" wheels tho....

Maxspeeds/stock struts. The gap seems larger in this pic because it was taken right at ground level.

LOL!! :grinno: C'mon guys, please post pics that fit what I've requested! :) If the pics aren't consistant and comparable, then they'll be of little value to those trying to make a spring decision.

Tein S Tech Springs (rated 2.2" front/1.6" rear).
KYB-GR2 Struts.

Front measurement: 25 & 1/2"
Rear measurement: 26 & 3/8"

I did not trim the bump stops as per the Tein instructions, nor did I change my dustcover/bumbstops out for Teins. No problems to date (approx 19K miles).

Bump. Keep the pics coming, but don't forget to read the rules guys...

I've you're referring to Quicksilver's post, those are stock GLE wheels.

JICs you choose the drop, and how even you want - I went with a conservative zero gap, minimal tuck

Nope! Quite the opposite in fact. Quicksilver is actually one of the few people who read and followed the rules! :grinno:

NYCe MaXiMa Mar 10, 2004 03:30 PM

very nice idea..

also.. it would be a nice idea to include multiple pics of the same spring setup if the cars have different diameter wheels or even tires..

here is mine on modified 4th gen KYB AGX struts/shocks and Ground Control coilovers (not really the best comparison because you can drop them lower, or raise them higher.. but this is about 3/4ths dropped..)

Also, you can use this for a side to side stock versus my car comparison.

Ride height:

Front: 25-3/4"
Back: 26-1/8"

Measured from fender to ground.

Bump for updates...

And yes, my post is updated...

irish44j Mar 10, 2004 07:01 PM

Notice not many are posting measurements....I am really interested in those...pics can be decieving, but measurements can't really lie...

Alright! Thanks Quicksilver! Everyone look at post #13 as a reference. This is the only post that I can use so far. If you wonder why, re-read post #1. :)

BTW - That's one great looking GLE man. Love the drop.

Thanks man. She's a looker, even as stock looking as that...

I might go with the '05 Altima wheels (5 spoke) before too long...but we'll see.

LithiuMax Mar 11, 2004 09:00 AM

Bump for updates (updated my post as well, with measurements).

I'm willing to bet that the height difference between our cars is audio equipment related...

Looks good though. I like the stock wheels, but I like the '05 Altima wheels more...

Tein H-tech (1.6 front drop/ 1.0 rear drop) with tokico blues.

Not to be a jackbag or anything, but make sure to post your actual middle-top fender to ground distance as well...

eibach's drop lower thehn what they advertise :)

Jimmy Gardner Mar 11, 2004 04:52 PM

Can you tell me how much they dropped? I am going to lower my wife's 03 and am considering using these springs, but their advertisement is only for 1.3" front and 1" rear, but your car looks like it got better than that. I have used Eibach springs before on other cars, and was super happy with them, I was just hoping someone got more than an inch out of them.

I'm just amazed at how none except for #13 know what this thread is or follows the directions. Is it that Maxima owners are a little dense or just "rebellious"?

BTW, Housecor, this is one of the most practical threads I've seen. Good call!

 Thanks Komax. Trust me, I'm both disappointed and concerned! Clearly I could write anything in this post and no one is going to read it anyway. Either people didn't read my first post, or they realized they didn't have what I was asking for and decided to showcase their car in this thread anyway.

Quicksilver Mar 12, 2004 01:52 PM

Alright, everyone that has posted here please READ THE FIRST DAMN POST IN THE THREAD!! It clearly states what needs to be shown in order to make this a valid technical comparison. Follow my example for the love of all that is holy in Maxima land!!!

OK, I ranted a bit, but it's so damn simple, and I really don't want to think that only 2 of us can do this correctly... :deezo:
