Your thoughts on Tein's and Progress...

I need some recomendations on which springs to get. I have maxspeeds right now, but I have to replace my shocks and I want something that is a bit lower. I like the evenness of the Tein drop, but don't know how they handle. They will be paired up with Tokico Illuminas. Theoretically wouldn't I be able to minimize the harshness of the teins by softening the settings on the Illuminas? If the Illuminas are on a softer setting would that weaken the longevity or strength of the strut?

I also need new strut mounts. Can someone go into some detail into what these are and where I get them.

S or H techs????

S Techs...

Also throw the eibachs in there, but they don't look as good on the 00-01's as they do on the 3.5's because of the increased front weight pulls them down some.
Heck any springs.

Here's the dirt:
1. Tein S-tech are lowest
2. Progress are the most even (S-tech drop front more than back, H-tech leave back slightly higher)
3. Softer settings don't weaken the longevity. However, be forewarned your warranty on Illuminas is void if you drop any farther than 1.5". Tein S-tech are known to be strut killers since the strut is always so compressed.
4. Setting the Illuminas to a really soft setting with the S-tech will cause frequent bottoming out due to minimal supension travel and low strut compression settings.

I'm running Progress and Illuminas. Love the combo. Rides great set to 2F/3R. More info/pics on my site: www.innerbean.com/housecor

The S-tech does drop the front about a 1/4 more than the back. However, if you have a trunk full of stereo the ride evens out all around.

Housecor how is the handling and ride on the Progress?
MaxSE03 how is the handling and ride on the Teins?

My only concern with the Progress is that the front of the 00-01's is lighter than the 02-03's and thus the front sits up higher on my car when comparing springs.

Progress is the most even drop. Look at housecor's 03 SE.

I recommend Eibachs. Tein S Techs are way too low and harsh as hell. I'm thinking of switching back to Eibachs.

00MAXIST - I'm very happy with the ride on Progress. On all but the largest bumps they're very comfortable. In fact, a couple of my friends couldn't tell a difference in the ride when we went out for drinks the other night. And believe me, I asked more than once. However, I live in the 'burbs of KC where most roads are in great condition and pretty smooth. When I travel to different parts of town that aren't kept up as well and hit potholes and big expansion joints, that's when the ride feels harsh. Handling is notably improved. The car feels lighter and body roll is greatly reduced - nearly completely eliminated on settings of 3/3 or higher. The floaty feel of the factory SE suspension is completely gone, even on 2F/3R.

I don't know of any 00-01 owner running progress off-hand. However, I disagree that '00-01's sit higher than '02-03. In fact, I think the opposite is true if you look at pics for comparision. Nonetheless, consider the facts: other springs look about the same on 00-01's and 02-03's, so the drop should be comparable to mine on your 5th gen.

Housecor, thanks for the reply. I love your car and especially your drop. My sis has an 03 SE Titanium Edition in Titanium Silver (I think). It's a beautiful car, by far my favorite color.

I hope that my drop is the same as yours, because yours looks good.

i love my tein h-tech and illuminas drop was just right. Ride is great set at 3 in front and 3 in the rear. Drop was moderate and looks really good with stock wheels or aftermarket wheels. See my car domain site for pics http://www.cardomain.com/memberpage/555741

Is it the same color as mine? See sig. If so, it's Polished Titanium. And yes, my favorite color too.
