Roof rack for kayaks on 5th gen?

Title says it all. I'm hoping to get something that I don't have to drill into the roof. Also, if I decide to take it off, say in winter, it won't leave my roof all scratched up. I believe I can use the rain gutters? Thx for any suggestions.

I have a Thule system. Love it. The base feet and bars supports all thier add-ons including kayaks. No drilling, but put down some 3m surface tape under the feet of the rack to protect the paint. Check out Thule at your local bike shop.

Ouch, its like $519 from the site for what I need. Any alternatives besides ebay? Do they ever run a sale?

Ouch maybe, but a word to the wise on racks. A cheap rack makes it easy for your boat to be stolen, and makes it easy for the rack to be stolen as well. It's a get what you pay for item. Your paying a little more also for the opportunity to rack your vehicle with little to no physical impact, like having to drill. They very rarley go on sale, they don't have to because they are in the top 3 manufacturers. Yakima is another option, but priced about the same. My last one lasted 10 years. At a price of $570, $57 a year is not alot of $... for a great rack...

Thank you for the advice on spending more on a quality roof rack. I was in ****'s Sporting Goods today, and what they had for a kayak rack didn't look good. Cheap, but not what I considered worthy.

Look for a used Yakima or Thule system. I have a Yakima roof rack.
