What's up with my in-dash stereo system? (OEM)
 

Was driving to my brother's house in Long Island. I was listening to my CD, a new song starts...5 seconds into the song it skips to the next track. :\ Ok...maybe the ride is just bumpy and the laser jumped.

On the way back, listening to same CD...and all of a sudden my radio comes on! My hands were nowhere near the Mode button on the steering wheel. I had only my right hand on the wheel positioned near the cruise options.

WTF?

i was amazed too, but at 39k miles and my OEM cd player started skipping any cd i put in it. i just ordered a new one from crutchfield

Mine never skips. I can play the most scratched up CD you can think of and it runs like butter. This is the first time this ever happened. :(

Might need to be cleaned?

Might want to get that CD player changed. Mine did that too and ALL of my CDs are scratched up.
