Got her HIDS for her 100,000 mile b'day

Installation took about 1.5 hours. I had a pretty generic write-up. I bought them here from an orger, and they came in fact box and are in mint condition, not even a single pit. I was going to do the hid alarm fix, but after installing them the hids don't flash when i arm it. is that somehting to worry about? i thought it would flash the hids..

looks good man. nice little present for the max. Are your rims 18's or 19's. look like 18's but im not sure. They look good though!!

ZIPPIN Jun 8, 2004 06:35 AM

they are 18x8. i still can't get them balanced right. have taken them to discount tire twice.

PearlWhtMaX2000 Jun 8, 2004 07:13 AM

huh, thats odd, try a nother place

You know I did the hid installation myself but I don't know if the alarm fix was included. How is that suppose to work? All I know is the my blinkers from the front and back light up, nothing else.
100,000? Thats cool. I think I'm at 72,000 miles.

The lights look great on the max.....get some closeup shots!!!! :hat:

ZIPPIN Jun 8, 2004 11:51 AM

will get some shots tonight. i don't think i am going to paint the heads black.

i did not put in the new clips. wanted to wait until after the dde's. will it be ok without the clips for a few days??

Your HID's shouldn't flash - that would be a bad thing, because the quick on/off ignition of the bulbs would cause unneeded wear and tear and subsequently shorten their life.

ZIPPIN Jun 8, 2004 12:11 PM

they do not flash. i saw a write-up done by dixit about that. is that just a 2001 issue? when i arm the amber turning bulb flashes..

How much did you spend? How in-depth was the electrical installation?

ZIPPIN Jun 8, 2004 12:50 PM

i did not spend as much as the new ones. the installation was confusing. the write-up i had was only helpful for the color codes. i have experience with home wiring. that definately helped..

2kmaxtn Jun 8, 2004 12:54 PM

What do you think someone would charge to install them? They look great. I'm always envious when I pass a 2k3 during the day OR night.

ZIPPIN Jun 8, 2004 01:05 PM

i am sure someone will help you, if you can show you did not buy stolen ones. i know the dealers won't install them

the alarm fix is so your HIDS dont flash when you hit the panic button or the alarm actually goes off. otherwise, if you dont do it, the HIDS will flash with the PANIC button or if the alarm goes off. locking and unlocking the car will not cause the HIDS to flash.

Dang...looks good. You might as well fix er up and do what you want....b/c you'll never be able to sell the dang thing for more than 5 dollah and a bag of doughnuts.

I've spent the past 4 months playing with the idea of selling mine....and every time I come back to keeping it b/c depreciation is so bad.

anyways....my point of this reply is to say after looking at yer pic there, my next mod is HID's. (not stolen ones of course). Looks great. How much did you pay for it?

i read the HOW-2 2k2 ALARM FIX, and it's for a 2k1. anyone know if it will work on a 2k? otherwise I will have to figure it out...

QUICK question:

are the installed HID'S more secure in a 2000-01 compared to a 2002-03..or are they just as vulnerable if they were in a 2002-03?

SKYRockerr Jun 10, 2004 07:20 PM

Yes.. Hid's no matter what , your getting them stolen , more or so on 2001 and 2000 cause even the theifs know your headlights are stolen lol
