Hello all.. I'm new here..

Hello.. Just thought I'd come on the boards and introduce myself.. I own a small Nissan oriented performance shop in Southern Louisiana (www.fi-r.com). A buddy of mine in Baton Rouge, dropped of his 5th gen Maxima last week, and I'll be doing some work on it.. that I thought some of you guys might be interested in. The car is currently turbocharged, but is using a Vortech FMU, stock injectors and a Super AFC. It is a 2001 model, so there is no Jim Wolf Technology plug in ECU for it. However, after doing some research, I have found that the wiring harness ECU plug can be modified to use a earlier style JWT ECU... from say.. a '96 model ECU or so. This should be capable on all of the 5th gen Maxima's as far as I can see. So, we will be using a JWT ECU, with a Z32 (300zxTT) MAF, 50lb MSD injectors, and fuel pressure regulator. He's got a T3/T04B on there right now.. however, I will be switching out the compressor wheel for a 50 trim T04E compressor wheel, teamed up with the stage III turbine.. it should be capable of over 400whp on pump gas. It'll take some time to do this... as the customer has to save up some money for all the work to be done.. but when it's done.. I should be able to get you guys a plug and play ECU/harness for your cars.

Also, I am looking at building a bolt-in turbo kit for the 5th and 6th gen Maxima. If anyone is interested in this, please email me at Travis@fi-r.com

Thanks, and I look forward to working with you all..

Also.. Here's a little run-down of some things we've accomplished and what we generally work on..

First SR20DET powered B15 (2000+) Nissan Sentra

First 400+whp B15, and also first to break 11's in the 1/4 mile

First bolt-on production turbo kit for the SE-R Spec V (QR25DE)

First fully built QR25DE (made 400+hp on pump gas)

First fully built non-turbo SR20DE Silvia motor (drag car)

We usually do a lot of Sentra stuff.. as the market for those guys is limited. However, I enjoy working with the Z32 and S13/S14 guys as well. Here's some pics of my work..

welcome to the .org :D

SO a '96 JWT ECU will work with the DE-K motor with harness modification? What about the extra control and sensors that the DE-K motor has compared to the '96 motor? How do you handle that?

I'm still going over the manual and diagrams.. but this has been done. JWT did a car for Nissan a few years ago using this method. I am friends with Clark Steppler.. who does programming at JWT.. and we were going over this last week. He was saying that the vital engine sensors that are needed to make the engine run are all interchangeable as far as signal/voltage. There are some emissions, and other sensors that will not be used of course.. also, the NATS system will not be used. The other thing, is the speed sensor that gives feedback to the ECU isn't compatible... so it is disabled in the ECU and the wire isn't hooked up in the harness (feedback).
