2000 maxima SE

for those interested, heres the deal.

when i bought it, the guy said he didnt have one for the car. i asked him how much one would cost, and hes like "about a hundred from a dealer". so im like screw that. so he just grabbed a remote from a pile of about 4 or 5. we went outside and he beeped it. it worked, but on another maxima that was sitting next to mine. he gave it to me and said to get it programmed for about 30 bux.

i got the program instructions a while ago and tried them. nothing. so i replaced the battery just in case, and still nothing. so obviously this remote doesnt go with my max. ive since found out that there are approx 30 different types of remotes a car maker makes for each model, and they are not interchangable. so i need to know how to figure out what 'ID' number or whatever i need so i can get it off ebay or something.

Hah, if it's been programmed to work on another car, just take the battery out for a week and program it following the instructions. It should work fine. I've seen it done many times at the dealer and any one for your year should be fine. That's how it looks
