I find it ironic how my first mods aren't what I thought they would be.
 

I remember when I first joined the org and thought about doing something to the Max, I said to myself that performance mods would definitely be the first things I'd do. I was looking into exhausts, y-pipes and etc. Now, I've done a full 360* and I'm doing stealth mods first. A suspension upgrade is about to be done within a day or two. Then I'm getting rid of the Potenzas for Falkens, and I expect to see some light gains from them because they weigh less and offer better dry traction. Then I'm getting new rims, either lightweight 17'' (16lbs or less) or lightweight 16'' (16lbs or less).

My goal is to break the 6 second mark for my 0-60. So all I'm looking to gain is 1 lousy second. I'm definitely going to go for every possible weight reduction mod before I start touching the performance stuff. I'll likely get an Under Drive Pulley, as well. Oh, and can't forget a grounding kit, either (even though it isn't weight reduction). I wanna' see how much I can gain without purchasing a y-pipe or new catback system or whatever.

are you five speed? anyways, if you are, i guess what would be next is tranny mods. You won't change your crank hp too much but your whp should jump. nice choice in mods... as some people say its like drving a totally different car with the new suspension.

I think you chose the right route. The car isn't really power deficient but does need some help in the handling dept. Its always best to make sure you take care of the little details first, such as better traction with lightweight wheels and stickier tires. I get a kick out of guys on here that talk alot of smack about their intakes and exhausts but are running on bald tires and bad sparkplugs.....

I plan on doing suspension and brake work first, then then I'd also like to get more power from the crankcase to the wheels (lighter pullies and flywheel, etc...)

then when I'm happy with that I'll get headers, CAI and full exhuast...but I may not need it after I get done with all the other stuff.

suspension mods? I plan on a RSB, performance orientated lowering springs and Koni's (if they have a 5th gen application)

brakes? maybe the 2k4 rotors, but definately something bigger, I'm sick of my warped brakes.

Tires...look into the Toyo Proxes 4...I got 4 of them for $500 ($588 installed and warranted) I drove them in wet weather for the first time tonight, and my GOD it was amazing! I think I'm sold on these until Toyo stops making them. I've heard mixed reviews on the Falken 512's, and I've heard only good things about the Proxes 4.

i had a 95 maxima prior to this one and i went with all performance mods first on it. then i got this maxima and went the other route; springs, struts, rims, subs. the grass is always greener on the other side cuz right now i really want some cattman headers.

one more thing for weith reduction... get a CF hood

Nah, I'm an Auto. It's funny that you mention tranny mods because I'll be getting a VB Stage 2 mod done soon, as well.

Can someone explain to me if getting lighter pulleys and flywheel will help any, in case you don't have any other mods? I remember reading some controversial opinions. What about the TS ECU? I'd too like to get done with the 'quiet' mods first.

A lighter pulley helps. Sort of how the heavier your rims the less your car will pull...a pulley works the same way. A lighter UDP helps free up some HP that was used to rotate the heavier OEM one. On some cars it's a decent mod, on others not really. I'd say it's a worthwhile mod, especially since it's only $100 most of the time.

As far as a flywheel, pretty much the same concept as the UDP. Also, when your car idles your revs will jump much quicker -- depending on how light the flywheel is.

Sounds worth it for $100, even moreso since it won't add any dreaded noise. Anything more specific as fas as installation goes? If it's nothing too much, I'll be looking into it very soon.

The only drawback I've heard about it is that if you have a really expensive and loud stereo it'll dumb it down. Also, your A/C may take a slight hit in power. Check out the UDP group deal thread in the Group Deal section. It explains it.

I have a 5 sp, so what tranny mods r there? I only went w/MT-90. I cant UDP cause my subs and system, which add a little wieght to the car. I went intake, my y is coming soon, and so r some new Kumho HP4's. I'm lookin at a standard RSB soon, no reason for me to go with the expensive brands on a mod like that.

Is anyone selling their stock 17 in SE rims? I love how they look but I got a GLE which came with 16" wheels. Chao3@tcnj.edu if your selling. tHanks
