So do you think our experiment had a good outcome? Was hacking up my SE strut worth it? I'll tell you the outcome when I see 40 votes. :)

Kev, what's up with this crap. Do you have some kind of quota to meet for the org now before you post? Maybe the 82 viewers don't want to mod their struts? My wife and friends just put in 12 votes. So let us know...

Dustyroads Apr 10, 2001 09:02 AM

Oh...finally half way there!!! I thought it would never happen!!! C'mon just a few more votes!!!!!

AHH AAHHHH AAAHHHHHH!!! (Sam Kinnesen scream)

I'm making sure no one (current people who visit this forum on a regular basis) will ask the question, "Will Koni's fit my car?"

Also, we are having fun at the same time. :) Well... at least I am.

22 votes and over 100 views. Interesting isn't it?

I've seen more than 22 different people (acutally, 21 because I voted also) post in other threads within the past 2 days.

The bolt pattern and lug size is the same, so the answer is YES!

Do I need to make 20 fake accounts? :gapteeth:

LoveSick Apr 10, 2001 10:21 AM

Installing the 4th gen struts on 5th gen of course will work! Since the car was about the same weigth and the diameter of the struts are the same, the only thing that could be different is of course the height. I think it will be a little shorter..... I am not sure how short it will become, but it will work. The damping rates should be similar that make the shocks works on 5th gen.....

Chinkzilla Apr 10, 2001 11:08 AM

Aw man.. some details.. what all do you gotta do? Did you do all 4, if so, did it improve the handling over Tokicos?

Y2KevSE Apr 10, 2001 08:06 PM

Alright, here goes:

From what Turbo95Max and I can see, the rears will fit. The struts look very similar. We believe it'll bolt right with little to no problems at all. This can be confirmed by another member who have installed the 4th gen Koni's in the rear.

For the front, this was what everyone wanted to know, the Koni insert fit perfectly into the stock strut housing. The 4th gen housing is shorter than the 5th gens, but that's not a problem if you cut the 5th gen housing a little lower. We didn't put the 5th gen strut mount assembly on, but we predict the Koni's will fit with little to no problems.

We didn't install the Koni's on my car, but I am planning on buying a set very soon and doing a complete install. From what I remember about the strut mount assemblies (front and back) when we were doing the Tokico's, there should be little to no problems putting 4th gen Koni's on a 5th gen.

:p

BTW, we are engaged, IMP. :smash:

I don't care much for the attention. I wanted to see how long it'll actually take for 40 votes. You see, when other people need help or information not that many people want to respond or help... but when the person needs help, he/she wants an answer right away.

I also wanted to see how long it took for people to help each other out. Didn't you notice it took VERY long for such an easy task? All the user had to do was click on a choice, then hit "vote."

I get annoyed when people don't help each other, but expect the world to help them when they have a problem. I have concluded my test... have a nice day. :)
