OEM HID's for 2000 SE

Well, I've officially caught the Maxima modification bug!! I swore I'd leave my Maxima essentially stock, and spend the mod-money on my Turbo Supra. Well, so much for that idea!! I ordered the OEM HID Xenon Maxima 02/03 lights for my 2000 SE.Can't wait to put them on!! I searched in the installation sticky for install details, and the link is DOA. Does anyone have the info I need, or a active link to the instructions to hook these up? Thanks in advance for your help!! You can post here or email it to me if that is more convenient, at gghouseone@yahoo.com. Thanks.

ps- I know this is probably the millionth post about this topic, sorry about that.

I bought them on Ebay, at Performance Depot. Brand new in the box for $589,
including ballasts and wiring harnesses. Seems like a good Ebay vendor, with a ~99% rating. Soooo.........back to my original question, does anyone have the info to install these, or have an active link??

You cant find the install info anywere online. It was taken off a while ago due to the HID theft problem and I really doubt its gonna come back online anytime soon. Good luck with the install.

Ammi Oct 1, 2004 09:28 PM

Many people got no help on that topic because of theft issue. Tons of HID headlights were being stolen and sold on ebay. I had to sort of figure it out on my own to install it. If you lived around here, I would help you out but you are on the other side of US.

I was wondering why the link was DOA. I am planning on buying the theft kit for them, so that should help I hope. Are they really all that hard to wire up?

Thanks Ammi, I appreciate your offer and input. I guess I should chain these to the front bumper. I've got a friend in my Supra club who has wired-up a few things for my Turbo, so I'll ask him to lend a hand.

Not too difficult, the 2k2-2k3 wires and a differnt color code the the 00-01 so your gonna need a test light to accuratley find out which wires belong were. They arnt insanley hard to wire up, but takes a little patience since some of the wires arnt marked & the ones that are arnt a match since the years are diff so it might take a some time but you'll get it.

Ill give you 2 points of advice though, get a hold of DaveB and tell him what you got, your gonna need 2k2 headlight clips (the ones on the bottom of the headlight) and the wiring harness to make it work (its a pigtail type) if you call the normal dealer and ask, they will try to sell you the entire wiring system up front and thats well over $1k.

Here is his info:
DAVEB's number for OEM parts is
888-254-6060 and his email is daveb@adpub.com

Btw- Any pics of the supra & the max...?

To make your job much easier, I strongly recommend wiring harness

Yeah that would be it ^. You still need those headlight clips though.

Thanks Ammi and HitManSE for the info, I really appreciate it!! I will be getting
both the wiring harness and clips, and 20 ft of chain for theft protection!!
HitManSE, I'll post up some pics. I don't have pics of both cars together, so I'll have to go take some. The Max is silver, the Turbo is red, and should make a good combo in a pic (kinda dumb that I never took a pic with both of them before, come to think of it!!).

Don't buy any protection for your HIDs. If someone wants to steal them, let them. If you try to stop them, they'll only damage your car more. Insure the HIDs for an additional $20 a month. That'll be your protection right there.

So the theft kit doesn't really do much? It looks like it locks the hood. Does it?

NYPD-Arnold Oct 2, 2004 11:05 AM

They'll just try to pry the hood open and cause only more damage.

Avoid.

No prob. As for the pic, they dont have to be together  Just any in general would do :)

Getting HIDs is a risk; depending on where you live. You might get them stolen but you might not. It was a good investment for me because I can see much better at night (along w/ HID fogs :D) and enhances the appearance of my car.

Yikes, I hope that never happens!! Perhaps a pit bull on a short leash would do the trick!! Either that, or park in such a way so the nose of my car is up against a solid object, so thieves won't even see them!! It's a dam shame to have to think about it everywhere I go, once I put the HID's on.

Send your e-mail address to a.witkowski@comcast.net and I'll send you the write-up for installing the hids.

Thanks Trance, I'll email you in the morning when I manage to pry both eyes open :doublethu . I wonder if there is a way to really secure them in place so they aren't so easy to steal, hmmmm, I'm going to have to fabricate something.

I say don't even waste your time. If they really wanted your headlights, they will take them. You can slow them down by securing headlights even more but they could do more damage while stealing your headlights.

turbo_gg Oct 3, 2004 09:20 AM

I guess you're right. Why risk further damage to my car. I still liked the pit bull on a short leash idea for theft prevention!!
