My 2003 Max won't start. Help !!!
 
I got into my car today and started the engine, it started fine, and i was taking the car out of the garage and the engine suddenly stopped (and there was a burning smell may be a fuse or a relay, smelled like a electrical/electronic burning smell), and when i try to start the engine, the starter is cranking the engine, but there is no ignition and the engine fails to start. I recently got installed a Crank position sensor (as per a recall from Nissan), and i was wondering if it has something to do with the problem.

Did anyone had similar issue, or a theory of what could be the problem? Today is Sunday and i cannot call the dealer till tomorrow. Any input is appreciated...

Sounds like the dealer could have messed something up while changing the crank position sensor. Best bet would be to have the dealer look into it. When was the recall done?

check the crank position sensor to make sure it plugged up and check for any obvious damage. you may have to take off the engine cover but look right in front of the engine. you will see 4 connectors and the one furthest to the right is the one you are looking for. the other 3 are o2 sensors and you can tell a difference with the connector size. also wouldnt hurt to use a fuse tester and just run through the ones under the hood and inside the vehicle pertaining to starting & running.

Thanks for the replies. The recall was done around 4 weeks back. I do not have a fuse tester but i can have a look at the sensor which i will do tomorrow morning. I guess i will have to tow it to the dealer and let them have a look.

I towed my car to the dealer today and it turns out that the ECM (onboard computer) is burnt. The dealer ordered a new one and he said it will be covered under warranty.

Does anyone know a reason what causes the ECM to fail / burn ???

Our ECU's must be sensitive or something cuz mine fail about a couple of weeks ago. I had a code P0507(High Idle) and it turned out the ECU needed to be replaced.
