e brake light won't go out
i was driving this morning, and i noticed that the brake light was on. the handle's all the way down, does anyone else have a problem with this???
|
check the level of your brake fluid- maybe you don't have enough fluid in the master cylinder brake resevoir and the light came on ? there is a sensor in that little resevoir. Most of the time when the fluid gets low it means that you need new brakes- pistons come out too far and it takes more fluid to push them, so the fluid gets low and POP here comes the light. Inspect your pads.

if that isn't it (which it probably is...), perhaps adjust the ebrake lever a little looser so it's not contacting the ebrake light button. the adjustment is at the base of the front of the ebrake handle assembly.

the light went away...i guess it was just temporary, because i just turned on my engine couple hours later, and the light dissappeared. thanks anyways

It's probably the sensor switch on your e-brake that probably got stuck.
|
you should check the master cylinder anyways to be sure

next time you come to a abrrupt stop the brake fluid will slush in the reservoir and the light will come on. Reason it probably went out is that you caliper pistons must have returned back a little bit and some of the fluid returned back into the reservoir and turned off the light.

similar problem
After I changed my rotors, pads and lines I noticed my e-brake light staying on. Any ideas on how to rectify my situation?

You know I had that same problem after doing doughnuts in the parking lot after some snow. It went away when I clean out my rotors and resurfaced them.
