Mechanic Guru's Please Step-Inside. P0100 code
SES was on. Went to AutoZone:
Troubleshooting P0100 THE PCM HAS DETERMINED THAT A MALFUNCTION EXISTS IN THE ELECTRICAL CIRCUIT FOR THE MASS AIR FLOW OR VOLUME AIR FLOW SENSOR. THIS CODE POINTS TOWARDS A POSSIHBLE WIRING PROBLEM, IE: SHORT TO GROUND, SHORT TO POWER, OR AN OPEN ACCOUNT ANYONE??????????????????????????????? |
I searched and it is MAF related. I put in an new MAF 8K miles ago. The car is driving fine. But it mis-fires sometimes....
anyone????
Check your coil packs.
changed those the same time as the MAF...they are the updated ones with the grey dot..
can it be a wiring problem or is that just a standard thing that comes with the code?? |
You will get that code when the ECU receives from the MAF either a voltage that is too high or too low. This can occur if the harness to the MAF is bad, the harness connection to the MAF is loose, the MAF has gone bad, or if there is an air leak.
Hope you find the cause. Hate to think your updated MAF has gone bad. |
Did you get the MAF with the tube ? I once just got the little sensor piece- it only lasted bout 3 weeks till it blew out again. Don't discount the crappy MAF. I would check the connector for any damages, maybe whiggle the wires while the engine is runing and see if the engine operation changes in any way while tuggn on the MAF wireing. If all goes good... try smacking the MAF with your hand a few times- sometimes that will cause the MAF to act up and engine will die- and means the MAF is bad.
i did replace the maf witht he tube. i will check the connector.
where could be the air leak?? |
past the MAF somewhere, using brake clean or carb cleaner- spraying it on the engine is a good way to tell if the engine has a vacuum leak somewhere. When the engine sucks in that stuff its RPMs will change.
thanks for the info. will look tomorrow
well never got around to checking for leaks. hoever, the SES went away after 2 days, about 250 miles. the misfiring continues at stops...what the heck is going on
