Intake Breather Hose?

I finally picked up an intake for my 5th gen, and the breather hose which connects from the intake to the engine, is way too small, compared to the metal flange coming off the upper portion of my intake.

In fact, the flange is so large in diameter that the hose (~1/3" diameter) actually goes inside it (and fits snugly mind you) instead of over (on the outside of) it.

Is this OK? What goes through here? Air, right?

Is it OK to leave like this or do I need to have the hose go over on the outside? I am a little worried with it inside that it will not seal properly and dirt could get in through there into the intake tube.

See the red breather hose in this pic, and note how it goes on OVER the metal flange on the upper part of the intake near the throttle body.

The flange on mine is like 3/4", so the hose can definitely not fit over it, even with some serious stretching or heating..

Any ideas? Maybe I need to get a new silicon hose? If so, any ideas where to go to get one? I'm in Nor*Cal.

thats the hose for the crankcase breather line. if the hose you got doesnt fit then i would suggest finding one that does in a local speed shop. if the hose comes loose it could let blow by go wherever the hose is pointing.

It looks like this:
______
===______

= silicone 16" breather hose

__
__ metal flange (intake port)

Usually it's the other way around, or they are the same size, and you can stretch the silicone hose over the flange (I know, I've done many intakes before)..

I just don't want to spend another $19 on a new hose. I'm thinking since the hose fits nice and snug inside the inlet flange, I could just use some electrical tape to seal it up just in case.. ??

Your thoughts?

electrical tape is worth a shot. just try it for a week or two and make sure no blow by is escaping.
