Problem with my DDE's

:(
well i put them on last week (friday to be exact) and they looked great

well this week on either tuesday or wednesday the whole drivers side (both angel eyes) went out... i checked connections and everything and it was fine, the passanger side still works fine and everything :(

anyone have any ideas? or know where i can just get 2 rings?

You may have burned out the balast, it happened to me twice. Try replacing it with the functional one to see if that's your problem.

lol wish it was just that easy

that maens i gotta take the headlight apart again

if i burned BOTH ballasts, then it means i gotta get 2 more :(

your ballast should be the black box wired outside of your headlight not inside

danimsta Nov 19, 2004 06:05 PM

ooo ok

i see, i thought it was actually the "ring"...

ill try tonight or tomorrow with the other ballast and see
thanks

if it IS that though, can i order another through umnitza?

white m3 guy Nov 19, 2004 06:10 PM

another thing to check, which happened to mine, is if you have the wires coming out of the housing pinched in the cap behind the HID, that would also cause it to loose conductivity. try uncapping it and wiggle the wire a little, and see if it illuminates any. hope that helps you, it helped me....i actually had to drill a small hole and run the wires through there so it didn't pinch anymore, next i'm going to sauder the two wires together, and heat shrink that point.

yeah i followed housecors tutorial for it so i wrapped the wires in electrical tape then did it..

but when they went out, i took the cap off and wiggled the wires just in case but still nothin

It's definitely the ballast. Same exact thing happened to me too. When I opened the ballast up it was totally fried. I called Matt and he sent me a new one n/c!! :gapteeth:

one more thing to check. i dont know if yours came with those crummy little black connectors or not. on mine they both shorted out after the first couple of days. my first guess would be to cut those little black connectors off and go get your own connectors. that is the first thing i would check before the ballast.

It's the inverter, or what everyone else on the Org. refers to as the ballast. Umnitza charges $25.00 each. You can however get them at a local electronic store for about $5.00 or $6.00 each. My left side went out after a heavy rain and I purchased a new one at the electronic store here in town and I am back in action.

As for the cap pinching your wires, go and get yourself some wire shrink and reinsulate them.
