OBD scan tool

Has anyone found an OBD2 generic scan tool that works with 2K's? I've tried a PalmOS based scan tool in the past and it wouldn't connect. I've looked at a couple stand-alone tools and they say 2000 Maxima and Altima are not supported because Nissan used a hybrid protocol and is therefore non-compliant. Specifically I'm looking for something that'll either work on a laptop or PocketPC, with a datalogger, and hopefully dyno software. Any suggestions?

The generic scanner they use at autozone works I think its an actron sp? Digimoto might work I personally would'nt trust my expensive ecu with it though.

I've been using an Actron for my 2K without any problems. It doesn't pick up P1 codes, though. Those scan tools are much more expensive. You have to go to the dealer for P1 code definitions.

Personally, I don't think it's wise to buy something for your Palm O/S or laptop. I think it's a better ecomonic sense if you buy the OBDII tool at Pep Boys, they had three different models.

We need a group buy on one of the OBDII scanners. Anyone have a contact? I mean one of the most common questions on the board is "my CEL is on, what do I do?" If we all had a scan tool it would make good sense!!!

OBD II Scan Tool

I use an Equus Scan that I bought for the Ford Van we have. Didn't think it would work but it picked up the generic 02 sensor code and can erase the error as well. I think Advance Auto parts carries them. Picked them 2 years ago for 149. They may hvae dropped in price by now.

Hope this helps.
