Length of PIAA's

i just noticed that one of my fogs is out, I replaced them with the PIAA's super plasma about 3 and a half months ago so i dont understand how only one could be out. i didnt bottom out or anything the car was parked all night. has this happened to anyone else? How long do aftermarket bulbs usually last?>

Gsilk Nov 21, 2004 01:56 PM

not sure how long they usually last but aren't they warranted (spelling?) for a year? i know people on here who get them replaced with that warranty instead of spending $50.

2K3MAX2NV Nov 21, 2004 01:58 PM

really how do i get them replaced under warranty?

al7601 Nov 21, 2004 04:54 PM

i've had my PIAA's for almost a year now with no problems.

sorry to hear one of yours burnt out

Ammi Nov 21, 2004 07:07 PM

I had my PIAAs for years. Only 1 bulb burned out from 10+ bulbs I bought.

I don't know, I had different experiences from all of you guys.

I had PIAA's (Xtreme Whites) in my 01 - in the fogs and the headlights. The fogs seemed to go every 3 or 4 months, and the headlights went every 6-8. I don't know why I had so much trouble, but eventually I just gave up and went back to stock without any trouble.

You go to google, you type in 'PIAA warranty' (no quotes), you read the very first link that comes back.

My PIAA H4 xtreme whites - 3 years before going out. The xtreme white H3's have been on for 4 years and still running

Gooey Nov 22, 2004 11:33 AM

So This Is Why I Dont Understand Why The One Fog Went Out If Everyone Else Has Had There's For Alot Longer Than 3 Months

maybe your greasy paws touched the bulb when you were putting the bulbs in :jester:

Gooey Nov 22, 2004 12:16 PM

just be very careful not to touch it at all....i used fine cloth to even put the thing on...i did not put any fingerprint on any part of the bulb since i did not want to shell out another 80bux for a set

maximadave Nov 22, 2004 12:35 PM

I've had mine for almost 2 years in my 2K2 Max with no problems. I also had a different set in my 2K Max that lasted about the same.

I HAD THEM INSTALLED AT A LOCAL SHOP SO IT WASNT ME I HOPED THAT THESE SO CALLED "PROS" KNOW WHAT THERE DOIN....

Larrio Nov 22, 2004 01:54 PM

sometimes you gotta do things yourself to get it done right. Bulbs aren't that hard to install, try them yourself next time and you may find the extra care you take to put them in may make them last longer

It's also a good idea to apply some rubbing alcohol with a lint free cloth on the bulb to remove any dirt/oil that may have found it's way on the bulb from the box on its way to the housing.

MannyNJ2k2max Nov 22, 2004 02:11 PM

My drivers side fog went over the weekend, this is my 2nd pair of Xtreme Whites I've been through- most likely due to the cracked fog housing- I will not be replacing bulbs until I replace both fogs, shyt's getting ridiculous

2K3MAX2NV Nov 22, 2004 05:33 PM

same here manny my passenger housing is cracked that makes sense why it went out so where can i get a new housing? or do i have to buy a set?

adithius Nov 22, 2004 09:23 PM

Try using a lower wattage bulb.
