Follow-up from my CEL light thread.

Ok so took the Maxima into the stealer today based on the info I got from Sloppymax after pulling code 0420 and determining our car is a CA emissions car. So it falls under this TSB about reprograming the computer.

So my question is should I have to pay for this to be done?

Dealer just called me and told me that they have to reprogram just as I told them they were going to have to :jeffy: (oh and I left a copy of the TSB on the driver's seat when I dropped it off) and that is was going to cost $92.80. Car is a 2000 GLE with 39,508 miles that we bought as a certified car from this same dealership a year and a half ago (June 30, 2003).

Since this is a known Nissan issue it would seem to me it should be covered by the 8/80 mandated by the govt. What am I missing here?

Oops duh CEL Light? That is a bit of redundant, redundancy. Kind of like saying the same thing over again, over again, over and over, repeating the same thing. :D

Ok so no one has replied so either no one cares or no one knows. Anyway I have some more info. Called Nissan and after astonishing the guy that I knew their TSB and the EPA code as well (don't these people know about the internet?) he said that it should be covered by the federally mandated warranty and but refered me back to the dealer. Does that mean go tell the dealer that they shouldn't be charging us or that the dealer has the final say? Oh well the dealer called and the car is done so I will have to go over there and argue with them a bit.
