Windshield gasket/seal

Windshield gasket/seal
Has anyone ever replace the gasket/seal for the windshield on the exterior of the car? I just noticed today that it looks like one of the corner pieces is chipped off and the gasket is loose and I could see the edge of the windshield when I started to pull back on it. Need to get that fixed before the snow and ice start flying around here. Anyone?

That is only the trim piece that covers the ugly space between the windshield and the body, and it is usually urethaned in place when the windshield is set in. ( I assume you're talking about the 'rubber' strip between the top of the w/s and the roof of your car ). That has nothing to do with the actual seal, and if the w/s was put in right to begin with (I assume you have no leaks) you don't have to worry about it causing any leaks. If there is a glass shop near you that replaces windshields, stop by and show them. They'll probably just put some new urethane on and set it back into place....maybe $20?...less?
Or, you could get some silicone and do it yourself, but the silicone won't hold nearly as long as the real w/s urethane will.
