I do know about the piggy back ecu but I don't know much about it. I was wondering if anyone else is making anything besides this and/ or how hard it is too work on the computer in the 2k max. Any help would be appreciated.

bry2kse told me Haltech makes an ECU for our car (check sticky thread for site. Also check The Racer's Group's site for pricing on their piggy back ECU (formerly known as The PROgram).

Well, unfortunately I don't think there's a lot of that stuff out for the 5th Gen... Seeing that its only going to be a three year run (and only 2 with the same engine), it's highly unlikely that we'll get much in this or any other mod department soon...

Who was the guy in the 4th Gen area that was trying to make his own? Was it "chebesto"? Perhaps he could get you started if you wanted to mess with it yourself.

I would be interested in getting started, or at list tinkering with it.

Jet Chips

I have talked with Jet Chips on two seperate occasions and they said that they DO ECU upgrades on the 5th gen Max. They do require that you send in your ecu and they reprogram it and overnight it back to you for $399 and they have a claimed 15+ hp gain. I am not sure but if you have a 5-speed get the fuel cutoff TSB done first and then upgrade. You wouldn't want Nissan to go in there and erase 400 dollars worth of programming by downloading the latest software version onto your ECU.

Do you have a website for Jet Chips?

PhatMax Apr 20, 2001 12:45 PM

www.jetchip.com

I just have to figure out how I can get the time to be without my car during the week to do it. I am going to schedule the TSB next week and maybe the week after do the ECU.

Do you know what they do to the ECU? Do they adjust the fuel curves and advance/retard the timg?

PhatMax Apr 20, 2001 12:57 PM

here is what the site says: Non Turbo Applications...Reworked ignition and fuel curves from 1500 RPM to Wide Open Throttle, increased rev limits where necessary.

and amazingly enough the reps say the same thing.

Y2KevSE Apr 20, 2001 01:08 PM

Increase rev limits? Thanks sounds interesting... will us autos finally be able to use the whole rpm range until redline?

What if you are not satisfied with the brain washin'? Do they re-brain wash it back like it was?

jetchip doesnt alway work

There was a guy w/ a 6th gen v6 accord, and he had sent his ecu to jetchip. Well anyways, when he got his car dynoed, he lot hp. And sure enough, when he went to the track, his 1/4mi went down by 0.2sec.

After many phone calls, he got his $ back and the 0.2 sec he lost.
