Removing driver's airbag module...
Hey guys,
I'm wondering how complicated it is to remove the airbag module from the steering wheel and place it on a new steering wheel. I've heard that this is very risky since the airbag can deploy in the process. But is there a simple way to do this that will guarantee that my airbag will not deploy on me? I can't afford to go spending near $1000 on a new airbag. Thanks. -Brian |
it is hard to do...also illegal

oh my god. whoever said it is illegal to do it and hard to do it is just plain dumb. it is held in place with 2 bolts that are torx on each side. the torx for the screws you can pick up in your local auto store for $10. when removind the airbag, you have to disconect the battery and remove the airabg. it cant blow if there is no power going to it. and it is not illegal because dealers and body shops do it all the time. i even can give the diagram from my nissan manual that tell you how to remove the airbag.

its probably illegal to do it unprofessionally...

Don't you also suppose to wait a minimum of ten min. after you disconnect the battery. Also shouldnt you disconnet the airbag plug.
