2002-03 Auto Tranny Service...

Hey guys,

I know this is about the bizillionth thread on 02-03 auto nasty shifting problems, but it's been buggin me lately. I have the same problem as the rest...2nd-3rd shift is real crappy and messy, and sometimes in cold weather the tranny shifts weird in general.

So anyway, I know I could go in and ask Nissan to take a look and maybe replace it. (Which is highly unlikely.) But I realized that my car never had the 50,000 miles service for the tranny. So if I have Nissan flush/service the trans. will that fix the shifting at all?

Anybody that's actually gone to a dealer and gotten results with this problem, let me know. Thanks.

-Brian

what does the dealer do other then flush and refill? I dont know how much that will help, I have the same 2nd - 3rd gear shift problem you're talking about, although mine is not as consistent.

Took mine in for a TSB because of "abnormal shifting". Got a brand new valve body for free. It had 27K on it, at 55k you may have some trouble but it's worth a try. Good luck. P.S. never admit ANYTHING when taking in a car for service like "I missed my 55k service" just take it in and tell them that it is shifting funny and it needs to be fixed. You can get the TSB here on the ORG. Again, good luck!

Has anybody done the TSB themselves? I was thinking about doing it myself. I took mine in and they wanted to do it, but I was past the warranty date by a couple of months. I think the solenoid assy is around $100-$150. I think the dealer said somewhere around $250 or $350, don't really remember.

I think that "Studman" has a listing of them on his site to include that TSB.

Couple of question for this.
1) Does that TSB apply to the 03's as well?
2) Do they replace the solenoids only or the entire valve body

Thanks

I was assuming the auto tranny was the same, maybe not. The TSB only states for a 00-01.
