03 Tranny problem - doesn't seem like the TSB one?
I searched through the auto tranny threads, but this problem seems different. When my Max is cold (i.e. engine warmed up, tranny still cold), at close to WOT the 1 - 2 shift is smooth but takes much longer than when the tranny is warm. BUT, there's no "jolt" at the end of the shift as described in the TSB threads. 2 - 3 shift is fine, and once the tranny warms up (five minutes later), the shift happens much faster.
Problem? I'm still under the powertrain warranty with about 20k miles to go, so might wait it out - but if it's really a problem, might as well take it in. Note: No, I don't usually jump on the throttle when the car's still cold, but getting out of my subdivision in the morning can be a trick... Thanks!! |
Answer...
Guess it's exactly the same problem - today for the first time the shift took a long time, than banged into gear, exactly the same as described. Guess the original problem was just the prelude.

it happens to me to. just wait till the car warms up.. you should be at normal opp temps for about 5 min before you WOT it.. my general rule is i have to get to a certian street before i can hit it..
normally the auto will finish the 1-2 shift at around 45 mph.. it will ussually add about 5 mph to the shift tho. which is kinda cool. but def not good for the tranny |
