I can get my OEM 17" SE 6-spoke wheels chromed for $100.00 apiece. Has anyone else done that yet? If you have, please post pics. If not, what do you think?

Honestly, I am not a big fan of chrome rims....The AE rims is as far as I would go since they have a more polished look to them. But, I have seen chromed 17" SE rims on a sterling mist max and they look OK.....

Be careful on chroming your wheels. Chrome will wear
off and discolor after time depending on how good the job was done. It also may affect the wheels in terms of weakening the structure, (maybe, that's what I've heard) Maxima Dave :-) |
I've seen many adds on chromed wheels in different Car and Driver or MotorTrend magazines. Here is what the add says:
Chrome Wheels. Original equipement factory wheels. 1000's in stock. Sport, luxury, 4X4. Factory chrome wheel exchange. With our exchange program we send chrome wheels first and you return dull silver wheels! Call 1-877-66-chrome (877-662-4766) 8am-5pm est. We are the manufactureer, no middle man! We have wheels for all models! www.4chromewheels.com I've never tried this before. I'm not telling you that you should do it this way, but I thought I'd like to share this add with you since you are interested in chroming your wheels. |
I checked on doing this on a previous car. The deal was you send them your wheels and they send you a set back, already chromed. So, you would get a pair they bought and chromed, which most likely won't be your own.
I suppose you could send them yours and request you get yours back, but this could significantly add to the turnaround time of the whole process. |

I can buy a wide variety of 17" x 7.5" rims for not a great deal more money than what it would cost to chrome my OEM rims. Then I could sell my OEM rims and recoup most if not all my investment. Decisions, decisions! |
that's what I heard as well ...
