remove headliner

i can't seem to fine any diagrams where all the clips are, so i don't break anything while i'm doing it. any ideas? and suggestions?

First remove all the hardware - handles, light cover. sunvisors, rearwiew mirror. When remove pillars; watch for the rear ones as they are VERY easy to break. Then pull down the headliner. The clips are on the corners and around the edge of the sunroof' opening. Four metal ones are alongside of the rear edge of it.
Hope it helps,
Eugene

If its like a 4th gen there are 5-6 clips following the contor of the rear window. They pull straight down. The ones around the sunroof hook up and over so the whole headliner needs to be pulled (sorry dont remember) either foreward or backward. I had one heck of a time getting it out the rear door.

Wow, that's some agreat advice, yv! Any helpful hints you could give us about removing the pillars? I am guessing you mean the a-pillars, the seatbelt pillars, adn the rear pillars?

Sure. The front and middle ones are easy; the rear ones are to watch. The rear ones have a clip right in the middle of it, so then you pull it on the edge, you could crack the pillar right in the middle. Needles to say, I speak from the (own)experience. I suggest placing several layers of quality masking tape, such as 3M, to reinforce the pillar vefore removing it.
It is indeed difficult to remove the headliner from the car; you may need to remove one of the front seats and rear seat cushion. BTW, once you remove the rear pillars, you'll get an easy access to the rear desk - and it's a good time to soundpoof it!

Good luck,
Eugene
