It wasn't easy, I'll tell you that. I had to crank up the 'ol Ooglie ThinkTank for this one. Especially for that sensor bracket. There was no way this one was going to fit like the one in Y2KevSE's pic. Don't know why, it just wouldn't. So I had to get creative and find anything that would work that I had on hand (the true essence of an Ooglie brand product!). I'll go to Home Depot ASAP and get me somethin' a little less "ooglie" but still Ooglie brand, nonetheless.

I'll post some pics for y'all to enjoy.

Be prepared, it ain't pretty. Parental guidance is suggested.

Thanks again, guys. You made it all possible.

Oh, and BTW, I haven't tested it as it was 1:30AM when I finished and my 21-month old son's room is above near the garage. I'll have to wait until tommorrow but I'll let you all know how it goes.

Cheers! :D

Maiden Voyage...

Here's a quick update on my initial impressions and observations after installing the POP-Charger...

I unattached the negative cable from the battery for about 45 minutes in an effort to reset the ECU.

After first starting her up, I looked at the tail pipe to see any "white smoke" as someone had reported seeing after installing a high-flow intake. None seen.

I kept the hood up to see if there was anything out of order. Nothing out of the ordinary.

There was a slight hissing noise, but I understand this to be normal.

Normal driving through my neighborhood, I didn't notice any obnoxious "growl"... this is a good thing.

Once on the main road leading to the highway, I punched it, but not too hard. Heard the "growl"... oo-la-la... I like!

Seemed somewhat quicker but not the kicked-back-in-your-seat feeling. This was to be expected.

Once at the on-ramp to the highway, I layed on the gas. By the time I was on the highway, I was doing 85. Nice acceleration, could feel something a little extra in the power band. The "growl" was still there but in a subtle, non-Monza exghaust kind of way. This, too, is a good thing.

All in all, about what I expected. As Paul from Avalon Racing put it, this mod is more or less to "wake the car up". Nothing earth shattering but certainly a nice addition under the hood.

Most of all, I think I can safely say I enjoyed the experience of the installation. I got such a feeling of satisfaction as I stood back and looked at my engine bay. I know I got a lot of help, but I did it. I actually modified my car!

As mentioned before, the folks on this board and the guys up at Avalon Racing have been really supportive and I'm truly grateful for their input. Maxima.org is a terrific community and it's great to know there's a place like this to share a sense of comaraderie.

Cheers and God bless! :D

I TOTALLY know what you are talking about... be prepared to start spending big bucks on your baby. Before I got my max I'd done VERY little on cars. Now I've done springs, strut and sway bars, neons, stereo/amp/speakers, intake/oscai and I've barely gotten started.
