To All Owners With At's

Hey Guys,

I wanted to know if you guys with auto tranny with the OD drive with it on or off? I drive with my OD on all the time but might turn it off in the snow or rain when in the city driving. I wanted to see what's the thoughts or opinions here on the .Org about the OverDrive being on all the time or just when on the highway and off in the city??

Thanks

Joe

Overdrive is last gear with a gear ratio lower than 1.0

Which means when you are in overdrive, you will save gas, but have very little power to accelerate.

leave it on almost always unless you are climbing a hill or something.

I usually turn it off for city driving but turn it back on when I'm on the highway. With it off in the city theres less shifting and I get better acceleration when I want it because it doesn't have to perform a slippery downshift to get moving most of the time. Yeah, you will suck a bit more gas with it off.... I wish i had a standard....

My car doesn't have an o/d button . . :hide:

You may as well leave it on all the time. When it goes to overdrive, the slightest amount of gas will kick down one gear. Seems like the tranny kicks down a gear too easily for me. (but Ive been driving sticks for the past 14 years--maybe my tolerance is a little low?)

With the price of gas the way it is, its OD all the time for me!

In traffic, I usually turn the OD off because I get annoyed with the constant shifting. I believe this is one of the reasons why the car is equipped with an OD button. When there is no traffic the OD is nice cause the car does 40 mph at only ~1100 rpm. :ben: Wish my V8 cherokee ran the same. At the same r's it does about 25-30ish mph.

I don't really pay attention to it. That is unless I tap it by accident.

Cool good looking out on the responses I was just check to see if anyone else really cared too much about the O/D being on or off but now I see everyone pretty much does the same thing anyway.
