s tech with 19's

would 19's on s tech's rub at all? would the drop be too low or just right? want to make sure before i install my springs. and if u have any pics of 19's on s tech's post them up!!!

ZeRo MaX Apr 10, 2005 03:11 PM

Check my webpage... I LOVE it and so does my girl :-) ... others will not like it because they will say how harsh it is....

filtor1 Apr 10, 2005 03:45 PM

They will work. Do not go above a 45 series sidewall. It will rub when turning. 40 series is best.

joebangaa Apr 10, 2005 03:49 PM

^^ of course it depends on the width of the tire....45 40...all percentages

how's the roads where u live? is it harsh or nice?

NismoMaxm Apr 10, 2005 05:10 PM

Side walls....question. sidewalls, the lower the number the smaller the wall or the larger?? and how does the sidewall play into the rubbing?? Thanks!

Agreed. Sorry for the incomplete post. A 235/45/19 would be the largest size tire I would put on a Maxima with Tein S-techs. This is just my experience and opinion. If larger will fit and someone has done it without issue please chime in. The risk of rubbing is greater the larger the tires height and width.

The height of the tire from the rim out is going to be smaller as the # goes down. The taller the tire, the closer to the wheel well, the greater chance of rubbing when going over bumps and while turning.

So say i wanted to put the Moda R6 19x8 rims with yokohama avs sport tires size 245/35YR19. would those rub with the s techs??

Thought you had Progress? If you switched I'm just curious as to why? And also do any of your pics of your 19's consist of the drop on Progress?

Thanks

I actually live around the Philly area also. I go to Drexel University so my car is really bad in some spots but I know where all the bad roads are at and avoid driving there. Otherwise I think the ride is fine. Like I said before that's just my opinion. You will get others here....

I was actually gonna get some progess because I do some driving in Philly but I always had s-tech's. None of the pics have any pictures of the drop on Progress springs. Just the S-Techs :-)

I just installed these yesterday and man is it a stiff ride like someone said earlier your car and you will hate bumps with the s-techs they are very very stiff!:)

joebangaa Apr 10, 2005 07:11 PM

my question is what exactly scrapes once you do the stech drop. previous cars i had scraped the exhaust piping. i don't want my b pipe all scratched up :(

Yeah I usually park on 34th street by the frat houses. Free parking after 9 AM till 4. That's what time at school for anyways so I park there. I have the full Stillen Area kit. I have the s-techs on now. I don't think it's "that" bad. I had a black 4th gen last year up here and it was with agx/sprints and I think I just got use to the harshness or something but I don't think it's "that" harsh. It's all opinions but the drop is great man. What year are you in and are you on your co-op now? I'm a sophmore.... still young :hat:

maximillus Apr 11, 2005 08:08 AM

i'm a pre junior and i'm at school now

icelandmaxima Apr 11, 2005 09:41 AM

All i know is that with 245/40/19 and stechs i rubbed when i turned my wheel all the way to one side and with the 40 series the rear rubbed on bumps. But i only rubbed with the 245 because of my offset. you should be fine with a 245/35/19 setup.

MaxedOut Apr 11, 2005 11:51 AM

just lowered my car.. with AGX and sprints.. i think they are alittle lower than s-techs.. and i dont have any rubbing with stockers yet

joebangaa Apr 11, 2005 08:14 PM

lower than stechs? doubt it

stevay Apr 11, 2005 08:49 PM

I am lower then s-techs w/19's and no problems

A lot of people run 245/35/19 including myself w/out any problems.
