HIDs wont fit... broken clip, new one, still won't fit

I have a 2000 maxima and the professional installers had a hell of a time to get the right one to fit. they broke the clip which holds it in place. i ordered a new one and now it still wont slide in correctly, so apparently they molded some of the back of the light so that is want go in the clip! how do i go about correcting this? i do NOT want to take it back to them, they SUCK, although that are D.O.T. and S.A.E. certified. either way, they messed up the back and i can't seem to figure out how to fix it... where can i take it or what can i do to make it go in correctly? need all the help anyone can give...

its pretty easy actually...

u jus have the clip, put it where its supose to go, then u just put ur headlight in...

apparently your headlight installers are just idiots, or there is something wrong with your headlights/car

Lontar1 May 6, 2005 03:22 AM

were you in an acident? No... just put the HIDs in and push it back... they will go in.... Mine did......

I tried, but it just resists goin in the clip... Which is why I think it may be messed up.

danimsta May 6, 2005 11:55 AM

are you sure your using teh right clips?

Lontar1 May 6, 2005 12:04 PM

the clip should be like a dark grey color not the white one, Are you using the white ones?

danimsta May 6, 2005 12:28 PM

yeah exactly

the white ones are for the 00-01 headlights

the dark grey is for the 02-03 headlights

darrick04 May 6, 2005 12:49 PM

nobody ever told me i would have to order new clips... I am going to order them today, thanks

Lontar1 May 6, 2005 01:38 PM

1.69 each.... grey ones

Sammzway May 6, 2005 01:42 PM

I am using 00-01 stock white clips and my HIDS fit fine. Although at first I had some trouble since the 2k3 HIDS weren't seating properly and then realized that you have to sort of level it with the clip and push it in. It locks itself into the white clip. The grey clips are not mandatory, but if you want to get them its fine.

danimsta May 6, 2005 02:58 PM

i recommend getting the grey ones, they are cheap and hold ur head light in much tighter

MIXXMAX May 6, 2005 05:27 PM

The grey clips are made for the HID's, and the white clips are made for the 2000-2001 headlamps. If you buy the grey ones made for the HID's, they will fit better on the 2000-2001 bumper. I have HID's, too, on my 2K SE, and was told by Dave B. that I need the grey clips to get a better fit. Very reputable guy....he know's his Nissans, especially our Max's!

That cheap i paid like six bucks a piece at the dealer up here in chicago and three bucks apiece for the little white clips that go inside the hole to the left/right of the headlights, just go get the 2k2-2k3 headlight clips from nissan they are dark grey and then everything pop backs in, they are retards who ever installed your headlights and didnt notice that they dont fit

My installer just got a knife and cut off the clips from the car and headlight...

Never knew about buying new clips.

tophersworld May 7, 2005 09:52 PM

I bought the Angel Eyes for my 2000 and installed them a few days ago. Nowhere did I see any mention of having to use 2002 clips. Luckily I saw this thread since I snapped my white ones trying to install them. The grey ones shift the clamping location back about 1/2".

$8.80 for the pair here at CA dealer.

Yes, the part number is 26398-5y700. I put my HID's in last week, and yes, the grey clips work, but pushes the whole headlamp housing back further about a 1/2". This makes it difficult to change the parking light, though, but hopefully I won't be changing it soon. :)

TRUE!!! But much better fit. As I discovered both of my 00-01 clips were broken...
