perhaps this is a stupid question, and I'm missing something obvious...but what is the point of having HIDs in the reverse lights, since they are really not on all that often? Most people (me not included) don't even bothering changing their reverse bulbs to Polargs or PIAAs (which cost like $20), so would people pay alot more than that for HID reverse lights?

perhaps designing an integrated rear fog light for the maxima would be a more useful/practical application....just a thought....not flaming.

irish44j Jul 22, 2005 02:38 PM

that, and one can get basically the same effect using Polarg M6 bulbs in the reverse lights

Luquire Jul 22, 2005 02:41 PM

That migh just be the camera for that bulb being so dim. If it was an HID should it not being bright as hell

Woody Jul 22, 2005 02:42 PM

Waste of money and time. :chairshot

Now, again, in English please? :D

jeepik Jul 22, 2005 02:44 PM

besides doesnt it take time to warm up the bulb anyhow???
i am usually done with reverse in about 15-20 seconds

umnitza Jul 22, 2005 02:45 PM

ok, here's a link to help you with some of the questions you have:

MaxPol74 Jul 22, 2005 02:45 PM

i agree :newbie:

Progress Jul 22, 2005 02:45 PM

HID sounds a bit overkill. 35W halogen is alright I guess, but that isn't as intensive.

NewLoveI30 Jul 22, 2005 02:47 PM

:sprint: Irish

Is the output (on the road at night) really that great out of a reverse reflector? You should post some night pics and not just of the light its self.

Just seems kinda wasteful to me.

:edit: Wow, this post got big while I was typing!

smaller bulbs light up faster.

Dasyce Jul 22, 2005 02:57 PM

seems cool, especially if you got dark tints and cant see a damn thing when reversing, only question, how much?

Not 100% sure yet:)

Dysfunctional Jul 22, 2005 03:20 PM

i guess these are really OVERKILL ... but isnt modding the point of being different and doing things that you want. he isnt MAKING anyone buying theses, he is just showing what else is being made out there. these do seem a little bit much but to someone, these may just seem cool or something they like.

i think they are cool. but dought ill be buying any.

that thread appears to be talking about angel/demon-eyes, not reverse lights.....or am I again missing something?

These are for people like myself who run DARK (13% is not dark, 10% is not dark...im talking less than 5% light transmission here) tint and wish to be able to reverse without having to roll windows down.

NYPD-Arnold Jul 22, 2005 04:10 PM

De-basing an H3 bulb will yield the same results. I've seen it done on a 5th gen.

irish44j Jul 22, 2005 04:26 PM

Arnold, I think you really should just mount one of these on the back:

175 watts of backing-up visibility :grinno:

TXT-1 Jul 22, 2005 04:40 PM

I'm not seeing the point of this reverse HID at all. Even if one could use it as a foglight, wouldn't that be annoying as hell to the drivers behind you??

Nomad Jul 22, 2005 04:48 PM

For sick HID guys who wants to waste some $$$$

mjg Jul 22, 2005 05:02 PM

this is pretty ridiculous.

How about HID blinkers...

sheesh.

joebangaa Jul 22, 2005 05:25 PM

it's ridiculous, but it's cool. too bad i dont have money to waste

i just wanna get blinded by a random car in a parking lot with these haha

n3985 Jul 22, 2005 05:26 PM

You guys may think it's overkill and/or rediculous, but some people wil actually buy it (minus me) :jester: .

I agree with Irish 100%, besides how often do you back up in a real DARK area that you cannot see S$it. I don't know but to me it wil be a waste of money....

Dr. Roy Jul 22, 2005 07:32 PM

a HID reverse light? thats just plain silly

Talyan03 Jul 22, 2005 08:03 PM

if you guys have nothing better to spend 300$ on, then go head and buy it.

bremner44 Jul 22, 2005 08:17 PM

Yeah, those sound cool! I can't wait for the HID dome light, or the HID guage lights, or the HID mirror lights, or the HID map lights, or the other interior HID super hot white lights. I'll probably have to run my A/C on high though so I don't cook myself in my easy-bake car. Not even double super duper dark limo tint will prevent outsiders from seeing my super cool rice-a-roni mobile. Awsome!

P.S. Lets get moving on those HID side marker lights too, so I can blind those coffee can muffler rice-a-roni driving kweers. :tardsmash

danger300z Jul 22, 2005 08:46 PM

yup waste of money

mjg Jul 22, 2005 08:48 PM

i want some hid washer nozzles.

Screw that, I want some HID motor oil so I can see where I'm pouring it in the middle of the night. :attention

Liquid_pjear Jul 22, 2005 09:58 PM

I can see the usefulness. With my tint I cant see **** when I back up. I may very well buy these if the price is right and I know a few other people that will too.

Somebody obviously has no idea what they are talking about, NoRegard is a club not a shop. Nice try though.
