Yeah, my worst nightmare came true last Friday when some car going
at least 25-30 mph slammed into my rear bumper. knocked me into
the car in front of me, but he left ASAP (no insurance maybe?) Damage to front of car is non-existent, except the front license (dealer) plate
is bent a little. Rear bumper scratched up & dented, and somehow my
muffler and exhaust tip got bent, as did the left bumper mount. . other driver's insurance is covering everything--new bumper, even replacing the dented muffler & tip.

The thing that shines through all of this is how damn strong & impact-
resistant the 2K Maxima is made! I know the bumpers are made to absorb licks . . . but this driver was looking the other way just before
the collision, so the impact was CONSIDERABLE. . . And NO body damage
whatsoever??? Thank God there were no injuries (except my pride).

Is there a computerized foolproof way to check the frame for any
damage? Or maybe have the alignment checked? Thanks for letting me
vent my anger/frustration/sadness here. I appreciate the listening.

RE: CHECKING FRAME ALIGNMENT

Kenny, you can have the alignment of the unibody(no frame on our cars)checked at any bodyshop with a frame straightener. what they normally do is set the car on it and it has a laser that measures a series of fixed points at known locations to check for deviation. I used to do body work and have done this procedure several times( mostly on high end cars)I checked with my old boss and he and I agree that if the damage is limited to the bumber and impact absorbers you shouldn't have anything to worry about. Good luck !!

hmmm

should have chased him down, then ran him over and charged him to wash the blood off your car. J/k Man good to hear your OK, a friend of mine got rearended at 60-65mph and was severely injured, the other car was in his back seat and he went through the windshield halfway. He's fine now... thank god. Hope everything works out and I'm glad to hear you're alright. Later

Many thanks to those who replied regarding my accident. The
support and encouragement from you is much appreciated.
I realize in the end that any of us who can walk away from a car accident should consider themselves very lucky.
I'll post again after the repairs are done and let you know how it
turned out.

I saw a black 2k max in a 3 car pile up last week. I hope that was not you. It didn't look pretty.
