Kegs and Maximas...don't do it

Well as the title says...Here's the results of transporting numerous kegs back and forth from the store to my apt. I'm open for suggests for repair.
Those spots are from oil(Mobil 1 that leaked!)

i agree. it is time for a trip to lowes/home depot. when i was out at maxus this year, cattman had his version of a trunk holder up thingamabob. i do not recall the cost but if you wanted something simple then use the oem as a outline for an mdf replacement.

OOmaxSE Sep 9, 2005 05:52 PM

care to share what MDF is? my trunk board has been messed up from the previous owner... i'm down to make a board for my trunk. 'cept i want the carpet layout in the trunk. SON!

best way i know would be to describe it as reinforced/stronger cardboard. it would not be as strong as say a 2x4 but certainly would support more weight than the weak/cheaper than cardboard one.

OOmaxSE Sep 9, 2005 06:03 PM

i'm ALL IN if that's the case. how much tho?

MDF = Medium Density Fibeerboard.

I would use Pressure treated Plywood. Semi expensive, but good for a trunk. Glue carpet to it and it looks awesome!!

I saw the Cattman trunk board at Maxus also. The one Brian has was for a 4th gen. It was very sturdy, made of a plastic composite I believe. IIRC it was about $85. Not cheap, but worth it for those that don't want to make their own.

For mine, I cut a piece of 1/4 inch plywood to the shape of the OEM board. I used Gorilla glue to attach it. Turned out very sturdy.

I just went to Lowe's and got some thin particleboard or something like that traced my damaged one put the carpet over it and was done with it, has worked great for about 4 mos now

i need to do this too...my sub box sits all tilted because the stock piece of carboard is mangled up. just been to lazy. i even have a sheet of mdf sitting right next to me.

Darius Sep 9, 2005 09:16 PM

I got some plywood and made my own... put hinges so i could still access the spare without taking the subs out.

OOmaxSE Sep 10, 2005 08:33 AM

The trunk carpet can be used as a template also.

.....TRUE!

djfrestyl Sep 11, 2005 05:53 AM

13inch radius with the top right hand corner squared off.

Make a recessed box about 3 inch per side cubed in the middle and voila.

fix your sig. it's too damn long.

BlackBIRDVQ Sep 11, 2005 08:49 AM

Finish off your trunk with a 03 Maxima trunk mat- its nicely carpeted like the factory floor mats and has a cool Maxima embroided into it, I think I paid 30 for mine from Nissan. BTW that piece of cardboard that sits in the trunk is like 80 bux from Nissan- I was hauling wood in the trunk of my Maxima few years back for some camp fire and the trunk needed serious overhaul after that.

aussie983 Sep 11, 2005 05:53 PM

They need to start making something like this for you guys :D

http://www.paradox-systems.com/produ...products_id=64

I transport buckets of rocks for my job occasionally and mines gonna end up like that too hahaha. Im seriously considering getting that diamond plate mat.

siren001 Sep 11, 2005 06:51 PM

is the Diamond plate mat for the 01 can be made for the 01? mines destroyed from tools and subs.

aussie983 Sep 12, 2005 01:20 PM

I don't know. You'd have to ask the guy who runs paradox systems, who is also a member of the org, although i forgot who that is.

deftpunk Sep 12, 2005 01:34 PM

My trunk board is all caved in too..........after transporting a couple stiffs in there. joking! It's definitely only made for light duty. You guys have me thinking about making my own now.........shame on all of you. :)

30 bucks! where is this, my local dealer is charging 190 and a local salvage yard is charging 100. i exhausted numerous junkyards and cant find any 00-03 maximas, did find a 04 pretty smashed, i spilled lime green paint on mines and its a real eye soar. i want to replace the mat before putting in my box.

Fr33way™ Sep 12, 2005 07:02 PM

mine bends in when I have textbooks in there for a 20 min drive

I always have to put stuff on the sides

gtr_rider Sep 12, 2005 08:21 PM

MDF replacement works perfectly, and I used some Lbrackets to make it function like the stock one.
