Strange Noise won't stop

Hi all,

I hear this winding noise coming from the hood. It normally shuts off about 3-5 seconds after turning off the ignition, but now the noise just won't go away.

Any suggestions/links what might be the problem?

Thanks!

you could describe the noise for us...

Dude try tightening your belts cause thats what it probably is, or just replace them car will run nicer if you replace them

it could be a tumor

belts? do the belts keep spinning 5 seconds after the engine is shut off?!

meh... im leaning toward the electronic motor mounts, some seem to have a problem with them, but if ANYONE is gonna attempt a guess at this, well need a description.

We have electronic motor mounts ( dont ask me how they work, hell I didnt even know motor mounts can be electric ) My car makes the sale whinning noise for about 3 seconds even after you shut the car off. Dealer said it was the electronic motor mount, just haven't had the $$$ to get it repaired. Good luck!

they get soft during idle and below 1000 RPM for smooth idle, and firm up above that for response/etc. also veh speed is tied in somehow.

BLUEMAX01SE Sep 12, 2005 07:01 PM

so should this noise be normal then? or does it mean the electronic motor mount is going bad?

Patsmax Sep 12, 2005 09:20 PM

Maybe it's your radiator fans going bad trying turning the fans with the vehicle OFF and see if they spin freely if not it's the bearings inside motor fan. When you turn the car off the fans spin for couple seconds, hope that gives you same ideas.

Electronic engine mounts or the ECU malfunction. In my case it turned out to be the ECU and it burnt. No noise after the ECU was replaced.

To exactly describe the noise it is kind of like the sound that comes when you stick a bill in a vending machine.
