20" wheels and lowered?

I have a 2000 sterling mist gle with 19" wheels, and lowered using the eibach pro kit(-1.3 front, -1.0 rear). I am pondering the idea of purchasing 20" wheels but i'm worried about the fitmant and rubbing. Any info will help. If you have pictures, please post or e-mail to johnnyb88@***.net. Thanks.

Doing the math will eliminate all doubt ... Some 20's will fit, and some wont ... Simple as that.

I've seen one or two 5th gens that have 20's and look good. I've been searching for about 25 minutes now, and can't find the grey luster Maxima that I'm thinking of, but if I do, I'll post it. Maybe someone else knows which one I'm speaking of.

Ok, Ifyou are looking at 20's that doesn't matter. You are not going for a 12 second max. Get that out of your heads. He is not looking for that. If you're going to dable in 20 inc land for a Max, you better have some taste, and some money to back it up. 98% of 20's will look like azzz squared on the Max. There are very few that will look good. Most will cost you 3500 bucks or more for the set. I would suggest to stay with 19's unless, you feel the need to be in a rap video with 10 other cars that look ghetto.

I don't understand on why having 20's make you ghetto. About 5-7 years ago 17/18's were considered rice and now most cars come standard with them. If i'm not mistaking the m45 and a couple of other vehicles come stock(or option) with 19's. 20's will be stock on the next 2007 Escalade. I'm a fan of Overhauling on TLC and Chip Foose and just about every car he does he puts 19/20's on and he is not ghetto. Personally I believe 20's on the 5th gen or earlier Max doesn't look right without a bodykit, but it can be done tastefully. The size of the wheel has go with the size of the vehicle. I hate when I see cars with little wheels (scion xb, kia rio, 06 GS350, and 06 M35, and others), those cars are too big/long for the stock wheels they put on there. 20's on the 6th gen Max look fine because it is bigger car so the rims don't look that huge. I think with the maxxtuning lip, sarona sides, and stillen rear, 20's look fine; the kit lowers the cars profile and gives it the appearance that it's bigger so 20's look like 18 or 19's with it. There are a couple of 5th gens and one 4th gen that have 20's and they don't look right because they don't have bodykit. My 2 cents.

But you see the max isn't really meant to have 20's. Maybe 18-19's. But 20's are to big that is why people are saying that

I got 20s for look and matching 17s for race, with a big brake upgrade. Thats the only reson i cant go smaller for race so it depends on how you set your car up I use my 20s everyday. I think you can have rims for occasions like shoes. And for a good set of 20s I can sell them for about 1900 at work, I dont know where 3500 came out but you need to shop around. I like 20s on a car you dont look ghetto with racing 20s you look stylish. But thats my opinion it is like an as#@$%e everybody has one.But we are entitled to them.

You'll end up spending alot more for that extra inch especially with tires.

20's with a drop will definately fit. u may have to roll ur fenders a bit but nothing major. as for tires, they cost about the same. i actually checked on some 19 inch tires a few minutes ago and cost on toyo proxes 4 (245 35 19) tires were actually $20 more then the 245 35 20 which was very surprising.
check out my homepage for pics of 20's

Damn, all i wanted was sone feedback about this. I didn't think it would cause such an uproar. Rap videos have nothing to do with 20" wheels, its a statement, you want to have 17's and think your making a statement fine, but don't hate on every one else who is trying get bigger. All in all, i love maximas, wheels big or small, stock or modified. And as far as spending $3500 on 20's, for that money, you better have some street spins or lowenharts. I am the captain of Team Hyper Imports in RI, and for that money, you better have something crazy.!

Well ya got some feedback alright.... now if ya wanted approval, that is another thing altogether. Its your car and your money, do as you please. This is a matter of opinion, you can't expect everyone to approve or be positive.

Just to get back on topic. A close friend of mine is dropped on eibach's with 20's and has minor rubbing issued due to the fact he is running 255/35 20's. If you can run 245.35's you will be fine. The rear is tucked i can barely stick the tip of my finger in the well. Dont mind some of the guys on this forum they diss 20's and turn around and buy MM evo 5's or 19's 9384938948934 other org members have. Good luck with your search and come back with pics when you got em on.

The responses in this thread are funny. The same people who get mad if someone calls thier car "ricey" are saying that 20s on a Max are "ghetto" or "ricey."

People in glass houses shouldn't throw stones.

"racing 20s"

kind of an oxymoron, isn't it.....kind of like "lead running shoes"

Just the style of the wheels being racy style wheels. People put 20s on vettes and no one calls them ricers.

I didn't say anything about rice. I just said that "racing" and '20s" don't go together....and there nobody who races his corvette, or viper, or ferrari, or maxima does it with 20s on...at least not if they want to be fast
