Anyone removed AC off 5.5 gen?

Has anyone taken their AC out and how difficult was it to do?
Any write ups?

why would you there is no performance gain. See a/c compressors have a clutch on the pulley that only engages when the a/c is activated. If you arent using it then the pulley is spinning freely. the only thing u gain is weight loss by removing it. whats the point we drive luxury sport sedans its no longer luxury without a/c. you will regret it if you plan on doing it but thats just my opinion.

i bypass mine during the cooler months and notice positive results but i also use a 4 rib belt. sr20den also removes his completely during the same time. the weight reduction is 20-25lbs which is not that great but the more you remove the better. i noticed better low end response just from bypassing it. the issue with removing it is that you have to evacuate it which means refilling it when the temps creep up.

Your supposed to run it every once in a while to keep the seals lubricated.

i reinstall the longer belt towards the end of the spring and the compressor has had no issues being dormant for that long yet.
