Everyone is saying H&R can't bottom out but.....

I have tried every setting for the illuminas and I still bottom out on uneven road surfaces with potholes, bumps, etc that I never bottomed out when i had stock suspension.
Basically it feels like there is hardly any suspension travel and on medium sized potholes/bumps there is a hard hit to the suspension. Anyone can help me diagnose this, I have been trying to figure this out for a long time, because others with the same set up have no problem even on the harshest roads.

new bump stoppers.... i dunno

used new ones when I did the install.

Did you trim your bumpstops?

Also, bottoming out is going to be more prevalent with lowering springs no matter what. Unless you have a really stiff spring rate to compensate for the loss in suspension travel, you're going to experience more bottoming out with lowering springs.

Best advice I have, aside from possibly trimming the bumpstops, is to alter your driving style.

I don't know how this is possible. I have hit HUGE holes and uneven dips/bumps etc and never even come close to bottoming out...I had used bumpstops on my 2000 as well...Maybe struts are bad or something.

definitely something is wrong, just what exactly...?

congratulations, you now know that the suspension travel lacks with any drop. if it really bothers you either buy some konis and shorten them and/or get stiffer springs.

how would i know if the shocks are blown? I don't see any oil seeping out and the car never bounces like it would if the shocks were blown. I will wait till spring maybe see if trimming bump stops helps, but many have never trimmed theirs and never bottom out.
The stiffer setting helps somewhat but only when it is at 4 or 5 and that is impossible to drive on these streets.
Probably best way would be to drive another maxima with same setup and compare.

Is there anyone in our area with the same setup as yours? Perhaps you could find someone with the same setup and than spot the problem just by comparing same setups on two vehicles.
