Rumor I've heard before on the org is false

I've heard that if you put on a front lip, then you can
t replace your fog lights if the bulb blows. That is total BS b/c I just put in my Luminics bulbs yesterday and the fog lights popped out with out any problems.

Why would you even believe that? Just look at it: you can get to both the back and the front without any problems.

ChromeSE5 Jan 20, 2006 04:04 PM

Its not a false rumor. It is true, just on a 2k/2k1. The only way I could remove the H3 bulb from my fogs was to remove the whole fog assembly.

03MajesticMax Jan 20, 2006 04:15 PM

I heard that the lips on the 02/03 bend into the fog hole. Thi makes it virtually impossible to remove your fog light housing without scratching your lip up.

DJ2Max Jan 20, 2006 04:45 PM

Probably not applicable to the stillen lip. i have the MT lip on and i have to take it off in order to get the housing out. the part that goes into the fog light hole is braced against the edge of the fog light housing, preventing me from taking it out unless i take the lip off.

MacAlert Jan 20, 2006 05:06 PM

I took off my foglights without removing the lip. It's a little tight fit but you can do it. If you want to be safe, just tape up the lip a little.

This is the rumor I was referring to. It is totally false. There was no resistance at al when taking out the fog light assembly. And it did not scrape the part of the lip that bends inside the fog light hole either.

KCMC582 Jan 20, 2006 08:43 PM

okay, but what lip do you have? DJ2 says he has the MT lip and it needs to be removed to access the fogs, macalert has the Stillen and he doesnt have to.

Lontar1 Jan 20, 2006 09:37 PM

It is true on the 00-01 with the stealer lip. I had to remove the lip on the sides in order to remove the housing. I didn't want to scratch it......

crispykid717 Jan 21, 2006 02:20 PM

Well I had never heard the distinction before b/t 00/01 vs. 02/03 or Stillen vs MT lip, just that with a front lip you can't change the fogs. I have the Stillen lip btw.

Igor911 Jan 21, 2006 03:01 PM

You HEARD WRONG. It is true on 2000-2001, and on 2002-03 if its a MaxxTunning lip.

You CAN remove the fogs with the Stillen Aero Lip for the 02-03

DJ2Max Jan 21, 2006 03:27 PM

if you look closely, all the people with no problems taking it out has the stillen lip and all the ones who do have the MT lip.

2kprlmax Jan 21, 2006 07:49 PM

Correct me if i am wrong but he is asking just to change the bulb. Why would you need to take out the assembly just to change the bulb. You should be able to get to the bulb through the back of the housing.

MacAlert Jan 21, 2006 08:22 PM

You can't on the 02/03. There is no way to get the bulbs out without taking the ousing out.
