What's the difference between 2K1 and 2K2 SE wheels?

I searched but came up with nothing. I keep reading that they're different, but they look the same to me.

mexi Jan 30, 2006 04:41 PM

one has a center cap and the 02 has the lugs exposed

GBAUER Jan 30, 2006 04:50 PM

also I think the 00 and 01's have an odd number of spokes, all 5.5 gen's are 6 spoke. I could be wrong though. I don't even bother to look at those lowely 5th gens.

Gjohnson Jan 30, 2006 04:50 PM

both are 17's right?

00-01' 17's I guess have a different spoke design than the 02-03's.

So the 02-03 rims have more clearance from the caliper. Thats why they fit the A34 brakes.

Gjohnson Jan 30, 2006 05:04 PM

Ok, well my 2000 SE came with 02 or 03 wheels. Will they clear Z32 brakes?

Hoooper Jan 30, 2006 06:33 PM

the actual spoke itself i believe is different, not the # or look, but the curve and shape on the back is not the same.

Z32>>>A34 brakes, much larger and definetely will not fit stock SE wheels, unless you use some spacers.

Not the rotor ... :grinno:

irish44j Jan 30, 2006 06:38 PM

This is not that difficult, ladies.

A picture is worth a thousand words:

NmexMAX Jan 30, 2006 06:43 PM

irish44j.... You just made a thread go back on topic :rotz:

Hoooper Jan 30, 2006 06:49 PM

lol, hes the best.

Funkdoobiest Jan 30, 2006 07:04 PM

Yup, that's exactly what I wanted to know. Funny how I always thought the Maximas I rented in the past had better brakes than my 91 ZTT, yet people upgrade their Maximas to Z32 brakes. I think they suck. Thanks.

sorry sorry, youre the best. well, the maxima is lighter, maybe that makes a big enough difference. also, youre wrong. the Z32 calipers> maxima brakes fo sho.

Funkdoobiest Jan 30, 2006 07:21 PM

Yeah, prolly true for the Maxima. But even Zers complain about them.

When did I ever say anything fasle? I only made the point of the rotors being larger in diameter for the A34, never did I say either one was better than the other.

You're wrong if you think the Z32 rotors are larger...

But by now this entire thread has turned :007: and has been since its inception...almost.

irish44j Jan 30, 2006 08:03 PM

irish44j Jan 30, 2006 08:05 PM

don't make me have to post a rotor/caliper comparison A33 vs. A34...

ok, fine

am I still the best? :007:

Hoooper Jan 30, 2006 08:16 PM

no, now that you :007:'d, you just suck. good comparison, although i really dont remember bringing up rotor size, and rotor thickness was just a random useless fact.

It's only a quart every fill up!

I'm ripping apart the engine soon and will post plenty of pics and explainations as to why it's burning oil for others. We'll call that my biggest contribution to maxima.org... short of the white V-kneck and umbrella that is (local DC guys understand. The rest of you just forget about it).
