If 2002 Maxima's will come with 225/55's, why not replace stock 225/50's with the new size on stock 17" rims? There has been much discussion in other threads about using 235/45's or even 245/45's, but no mention of using 225/55's.

A taller sidewall will throw off your speedo without at least giving you the benefit of improved handling since you're not increasing the tread width. If anything, it'll give you a slightly softer, mushy ride and slow you down marginally.

That can still vary depending on the exact specs. The tire calculators that are online can tell you how much +/- your speedometer will be after the swap.
