i have about 3bills to be used rite now...and i wanna drop my max, but keep the ride as stock [or better] as possible...i was wondering if i could juss get H&R's rite now, and when i get some more money, hook up Koni or Tokicos later? ive read most of the discussions on dropping the max, and most of em say to juss wait for both springs and struts, but i really dont wanna wait that long...would it be bad idea to not wait for struts?

I agree with mbcp.....why spend time/money on labor twice? Wait for the struts and do it all at once. Better yet, get Konis since they are guaranteed for life. You will never have to mess with your suspension after that :)

check out www.shox.com
i would just save up the $600 for both, and install them at once. the price came out to be $575, but $600 w/ shipping, etc. |
how much does install+alignment run for u guys?
|
heh, my stuff is still sitting downstairs in my basement.
I cant find a damn alignment shop near me. I think the installation is gonna cost me $125, i think. I'm too afraid im gonna kill myself w/ the strings. anyone know how much an alignment costs? |

Originally posted by mbcp_tdogg I've seen many places with coupons of $29.95 for 2-wheel and $49.95 for 4-wheel alignments. :) |

Originally posted by mbcp_tdogg I've seen it anywhere from $100 - $200 installed here in SoCal. Personally, I've gotten it done twice (lowered and raised) with the same guy and it averaged out to $100 each time. (sprint+tokico blues+install+alignment+tax) |
when i get my springs and struts installed do i have to take the RSTB AND FSTB off????
|
Originally posted by MaxedOut2g hey i went to Shox.com, but i got confused...i went to the catalog thing and they had like 4 different part #'s for the H&R springs, ranging from $69 for a pair, to $150 for a pair and same thing w/ the koni's...except they dont have prices...any body have a website where i can check prices easily? |
Originally posted by mbcp_tdogg You should actually call up Shox.com and talk to a rep because they have a Maxima.org Pricelist. They'll answer all your questions too. |

Originally posted by mbcp_tdogg First of all, you mean RSB not RSTB right? Anyways, you shouldn't need to take the FSTB off. Also it looks like you haven't installed your RSB yet so just ask the guy to do it for you after he lowers the car and it'll save you some trouble. :) |
no i mean rstb and fstb
cause dont both of bolt on the shocks???? |

Originally posted by mbcp_tdogg The FSTB bolts on top of the strut towers so it doesn't affect the install. As for the RSTB...:gotme: mbcp_tdogg, I see in your sig you have the 3M Scotchguard. Is this the same as the X-Pel stuff? How do you like it? Do you wash and wax your car like you normally do? Thanks. |
Originally posted by Lumbee799 To answer your question, the H&R's are designed to work with the stock struts. It is the Eibachs that will cause the stock struts to wear quickly and they will need to be replaced after 7,000 to 10,000 miles. |
Originally posted by MaxedOut2g ok so i dont need new koni's or tokicoz...yeaa, thats awesome; but 1 question, what r u referrring when u say 'they' need to be replaced after 7k to 10k miles? |
that brings us to the question about bumpstops...
do we cut the bumpstops off the springs? i'm still confused about cutting my H&R springs... |

"They" are the struts. You're just delaying the inevitable if you wait and that's why it's better to do it all at once IMO to save on labor. :)

True true...all that taking into consideration the existence of labor costs. Hey, if you can do it all yourself or for free, you can afford to really play around with your Max.
As for my 3M nose mask, it's the same stuff as the x-pel. I had it professionally installed...kinda costly but it took the guy and his partner all day so it was worth it for me. :) Originally posted by SFMax20SE But if you have a brother who own's a shop and does it for no charge... then it is ok :D |
soooooo basically
i think i have connex to gettn this done for cheap, if not free....and since i dont have a job rite now, if i can get one soon then ill wait for both H&R and Konis or Tokicoz, but if not, H&R's now, K/T when i can
thanks for all the help fellas A_T_W |
