nwp block off plate

Acceleration becomes linear. I have a 6spd so low end isn't an issue for me at all. It probably fell off a little, but it will depend on your supporting mods. I feel that acceleration has increased above 4k by a noticeable amount. It just pulls and pulls up to redline. There are several threads on it. You'll be able to add your own relative comments when you install yours. Personally, I love the difference. Go for it!

I have an Auto and the low end torque loss is minimal, but I also have NWP spacers and 17* timing advance which compensates for any minor low end loss ... and yes the upper end torque is noticeable.

I have a 6 speed and I didn't really notice too much low end loss honestly, but the car kept pulling all the way to redline...really noticeable. You will not throw a code installing a BOP.

Block off plate and the short ram ... you may also want to consider the 17* timing advance to compensate the low end not to mention a little improvement in the fuel economy.

You lose a little torque and you gain a little HP, resulting in a mind-trick in how it's perceived, making it feel like the gains are more than it really is. Still, the BOP is a fine little tweak if you've got supporting mods so that the low-end loss is negligible.
I prefer the linear behavior in the engine better than that turbo-like kick of the VIAS. Some people like it, some don't. It's a personal estimate, and entirely reversible.
Man, I hope somebody fixes the search feature sometime this year.

Increasing the fuel economy comes from some secondary mods such as, short ram intake, NWP spacers, a 17* timing advance to name a few. When my car was completely stock I ram 10.3ltr/100km after the short ram intake and timing advance was done (and I stopped romping on the engine) my fuel economy settled in at 9.3ltr/100km. When I made a minor adjustment by replacing my muffler to a performance one and deleted my resonator in favor of a straight flow through pipe another minor adjustment in fuel usage went to 9.1ltr/100km, with the addition of a custom made block off plate, some new colder spark plugs and NWP spacers I am now at 8.7ltr/100km and one hell of alot of torque in the upper RPM range.
So it is a combination of mod's that gave the end current results, that and just the practical knowledge that the Max is a great cruising car on the HWY (I do about 75% of my driving on the HWY) and the car loves to cruise at 110kmph. Stop and go or short hops to the corner store absolutely kill ones fuel economy in these cars no matter what mod's you have done ... take it to the HWY and let the engine cruise!!!

It is outlined in Step #5 in the instructions you received with the kit.
For anybody else reading that is interested, here are the instructions in PDF format:

Look, if you don't like it, then simply replace the VIAS valve.

Hi guys, read this thread, which might explain my 'issue'
I've got a 2000 Ti auto - 3~ weeks ago. The other day when I floored it at the lights it took off okay, however i kinda felt like some sort of cam timing was happening, as I felt a very slight then i felt more power.. kinda like say, NVCS on a Nissan skyline, where at the switchover(5000~) the VCT switches off which sometimes can be noticeable.
Dont get me wrong, it wasnt a misfire or anything, it just felt like NVCS was kicking in.
Does the 2000 maxima even have NVCS? or equivalent? (or is VIAS it)?

Maxima's have VIAS which switches around 4k RPM or so, I believe. I'm not sure anymore on the RPM cutover for I removed it last year and put in a blockoff plate, then bumped the timing 2* to compensate for the loss in low end torque.
