Catch Can...does it make a hissing noise?
I just installed a couple of days ago the catch can mod. After I drove the car for a while, I opened the hood and the i heard this hissing noise. The hoses were very warm and you could move them around easiley. There was a little oil in the hoses and after driving about 100 miles with it...there was only a little oil in the cup.
Is this normal?Could I have a little hole or something in the one of the hoses? Could the hoses be melting from the inside? I got the braided ones just like I saw it here.
Thanks

I had the same problem when I installed it too! after a week the hissing got louder and i noticed it was coming from the hose closest to the pcv valve (check it there) my hose was shrinking from the heat so im guessing the air was having a hard time getting thru. Now im back to no catchcan untill i get some better hose....

yeah...I think the hose is not holding up. Some people didnt have any problem with the same hose that I got.
Could this damage the engine? or turn on a check engine light if there is a hole in one of those hoses?

you might have the catch can facing the wrong way...make sure the arrow is facing the firewall, because the filter is unidirectional....there is a VERY slight noise, but i could only hear it when i put my ear up to the catch can itself....and if i were you, i would go to autozone and get some 3/8" ID fuel line...it can hold up to a lot higher heat and pressure than the stuff you can get at home depot...i got 4 ft. for $3.50 or so....

I hear hissing too
I installed my catch can on Saturday. I used the Husky filter and some black rubber, 3/8" fuel line hoses from Good Year. I am using some pretty long hoses since my can is next to the black relay box.
I HAD THE HISSING NOISE SINCE THE MOMENT I INSTALLED THE CATCH CAN.
My hoses have NOT collapsed at all after 300miles and my catch can WORKS. I have 1/4 of it filled with oil already. This tells me that i haven't installed anything the worng way. This "hissing" is just there and I don't know why. I used hose clamps and everything. The arrow on my catch can/filter points in the direction of the IM. (oposite direction of the PCV valve)
PCV valve - hose - Husky air filter (arrow => ) - hose - IM
This should be correct, right? Let me know.

I also get a hissing sound. I believe the what we are hear is the turbulence of spinning air inside the filter.
As an experiment I have added a second filter in series(more hissing). It accumulates oil at ~1/5 the rate of the first, this makes me believe that one filter does an excellent job. The though to add the second filter because I could see oil in the hose running from the filter to the intake. Has anyone else added a second filter?
