Second day owning my car and SES already...

EVAP Control Gross Leak P0455 is the code, pulled it off at Oreilly today. Car was fine, I tried to swap my battery in from my 4th gen (a red top....) I didn't short anything, then I noticed my SES was on. So I reset it....it came back today. That was the code and that was the problem. Im calling the stealership since I just bought it but wondered if anyone had any ideas...

if you jsut bought it, it means the car had a problem before and the dealership just reset the code right before they sold it to you. my code used to come up 50 miles after i reset it. the dealers are responsible for your car, the battery has nothing to do with it.

I can't remember the exact code, but check your gas cap. Make sure it isn't loose or the teather isn't cought under the cap.

yeah, i thought that too...i drove it a couple days before and the light never came on....i also drove it a couple days before with no cel, but that doesnt mean they didnt keep resetting it...hrmm, I put about 50 miles on it the day I got it without it coming on. so thats what made me wonder...oh well, appointment made to have it checked out there, if they try to charge me a "how do I know you didn't reset it before you sold it to me" will do nicely I believe.

It is the evap system for the tank, most likely. If they reset it, it could take days for it to throw a code. And, it is a few hundred dollar fix... Good luck!

Glad to hear it wasn't the valve for the tank! Happy motoring!
