so i get my technosquare reflashed ECU back tomorrow. its a full spec with z33 cvtc and possibly z33 ignition timing since they didnt say anything about not doing that. im wondering what kind of AFR i should tune the VAFC2 to. i was thinking something like 13.3 to 6500 and tapering to 13.1 at 7100. will get a dyno in a week or so to see whats up but im going to tune with the the WB02 until that time. dont want to hurt the engine by leaning out so im wondering if 13.3 +/- .1 is good

ive read every last thread in the NA tuning links, i was just thinking i might be able to get someone with personal experience with a like setup to pitch in. since the NA tuning links are not really that specific in the AFR category, was thinking someone might know a little extra. i had the car tuned to 13.8 before but with the added timing i am assuming that i will need to run a little more rich, maybe somebody knows something i dont, ie: what might work well or a good starting point

I've got the F-Spec and as is, it comes tuned to 13.0, pretty flat. I've posted this on here somewhere.
They did not give you the Z33 IGN curve. But, if you have the means, log some timing runs so we can compare, and maybe they did.
I've also run 13.8 - 14.0 AFR using the SAFCII w/o a problem. Good for short bursts, (1/4 mile / dyno). This is all IMO.
Some people agree with this, some don't. I am one of the ones that does.

I'm getting an 03 Max and planning on a nice looking/handling drop. Picked out Tein S-Tech Springs
Tokico Illumina Struts
but my question is with camber kits... Will it be necessary? If so, what does everybody recommend? I did search a little before i typed this, and will continue to do so, but any help is appreciated. Thanks

Strut mount/bushing question
Hello, I have a 2001 I30 with 52k on it. My struts need to be replaced and I have decided to install Illuminas. I have searched the site and read the results and understand it's a good idea to replace the mounts and bushings. In addition to the struts and related parts, my sway bar links need to be replaced and I figure I should I also replace the sway bar bushings. I have a couple of questons I have not been able to answer via the search. Please forgive me if they are noobie in nature.
1. Are the strut bushings part of the mount? I am not able to tell from the diagrams I have looked at.
2. Are OEM mounts and links the most recommended ones to use?
3. As long as the suspension is apart I am considering replacing the springs. From what I have read i think I would like to replace with I30t/SE springs for a little added stiffness. Where is a good place to find these? All I seem to find are the various lowering springs and I am not interested in lowering the car.
4. Have I missed anything that should be replaced when doing this work?
Thanks in advance, I appreciate the help and the patience with the noobie questions. This is a great site and after I have the car a bit more maybe I can contribute rather than only lurking.

In the winter, I run ~'02 Altima steelies with Blizzak WS-50s on my '02 SE. They're pretty darn ugly. So I picked up '02 Altima 5-spoke hubcaps but it seems like I need wider lug nuts to hold the caps on. Can anybody confirm this? When I've looked up '02 Altima 2.5s lug nuts on part sites they don't seem any wider than the ones I have.
Much thanks

Hi whats up? I don't want to derail this thread but it appears this is the right place for me to ask a question as a newbie. Let me also say that I am a high-posting member on a few other electronics forums and I plan on becoming a regular participant here; i.e. I'm not just here to ask a question
Anyways I bought a 2002 Maxima SE last August with 42,000 miles on it in good condition. I love the car but I recently discovered the plastic lever under the dash which controls the heater/AC airflow is broken. It opens/closes freely and I can't get it to stay on AC anymore. Can this be changed out pretty easily? Its in a tough spot and I can't get a good look yet.
These are really durable cars--In under a year I've put about 12000 miles on mine and haven't changed a thing. I use synthetic oil when I go for oil changes. This is pretty much required, right? (As a side note I use 87 octane gas.... big mistake?) Thanks for reading and I look forward to visiting again soon.

No camber kit is needed as far as drop is cornered. Now, if you Ax a lot, then it might be beneficial. PM the Suspension gurus ( Matt93S & irish44j ) for further info on that.
IMO, S-techs are up front anyways.

Follow-up to my earlier post
As a follow-up and to answer Maximaa - I placed an order for:
Strut mounts
Strut bearings
Boots/bumpers
Top and bottom spring insulators
Thanks for the advice to call Dave B, he was great to deal with.

there really isnt a writeup when it comes to doing one off custom stuff like that, you just need to be creative and good at fabbing a few things up. there are parts lists floating around though.

Definitely switch over to premium, right now your knock sensor is pulling back your timing and you aren't getting the full power the stock engine is capable of. You also might want to consider resetting the computer so it can relearn its operating parameters while using premium.

Hi guys I am new to the forums, Just recently bought an 01 SE.
I really want to install a new intake on the car but am unsure about what to get and was wondering if you guys could help me out.
I looked around on the site before and have not been able to find much or the links were wrong.
I think i want to get a short ram because i live in a place where there is a decent amount of rain and snow and cant risk a cold air sucking up water.
What should i get?
Is it worth dropping 140-200 for a full system? or should i just pick up a filter and use some piping from autozone or something to replace the airbox?
any suggestions?

I've seen a few claims of 7-8 hp gains, haven't verified that myself but after doing both, there is definitely a bit more pull above 5000 rpm, especially 6000 to redline.
When you first do the mods, you may notice you lose some midrange punch, but after the computer adjusts for the increased airflow, it comes back. First 20-30 miles or so, I was a little worried about the softer midrange but by the 50 mile point, it was back where it was with a little more topend acceleration.

HEY guys i need some advice. i'm looking through the group deals/tires thread but i am at work so its hard to do this efficiently. my problem is that i blew a tire today. it is not worth plugging it because there is hardly any tread left. i basically need 4 new tires anyways. i currently have stock rims, and i dont need anything flashy.
what tires would you all recommend? also is there a group deal or site i could purchase 4 new tires from cheap or should i just go through sam's club or costco??

I replaced my sparkplugs about 15k mi ago. 2001 Maxima 107k mi.
When I replaced them I got the wrong plugs and bought 'one step colder' NGK irridium plugs (BKR6EIX-11).
Is there anything bad that this could be doing to my car? I do not have turbo, sc, or nitrous.
