Searched my symptoms for my 2000 max were it wouldn't start it would crank but wouldn't turn over and had a weird idle so i cleaned the MAF and the car worked better it would run then it stopped turning on again so my mechanic replaced the fuel pump and again it worked but soon started turning off while driving the vehicle if the rpms weren't above 600, but then agian sometimes it work just fine and not turn off at all sometimes(more often then it turning off), and though it was working it had a terrible idle but i thought that was because of the upper intake manifold gaskeT and cold weather, so what do you guys think bad MAf or IACV? it could rev over 3k rpm when it worked so is it the iacv?

No start condition 2000 maxima
I hope I am posting properly - Anyway my problem is that my max sometimes will not start, it just cranks and cranks without even a sputter. If I try again in a few minutes she starts right up. I have some ignition keys that have not had the chips programed in them and it is like I am trying to use one of them. I have a couple programed keys and this intermitant no start condition occurs with all of them so it's not the keys. SES light is not lit but I do have some other problems like pinging and abrupt change when I cycle on and off the gas pedal. The car used to be much smoother when transitioning from aplying the gas pedal and taking foot off of it. Thanks in advance for any input

I had a code on my 2003 Maxima SE which I was able to get. I followed the instructions on how to clear the code, but when I attempted it, the car won't start now. It will click and the AT Check light will flash, the headlights and fog lights will flash like 8 times and then repeat the sequence, but it won't let me start the car. Any ideas what I can do to get it started again? Thanks for any help you can provide!!

Also are these lights legal, even though there is no red on them? They sell them on ebay in black and clear. They're the Euro style one's.

as far as the harnesses, you want to call either Dave Burnette..who is a parts dealer, and a member here on the .org, he is good with parts and does his best to get the parts to you with EXCELLENT service...or you could go to your closest nissan dealership...the dealership may even have to order them

nah they are not street legal....I had all clears on my maxima I drove with my tails all clear like this for close to 2 years Ive long since put back in the OEM ALL RED ones back in. I smoked out the all red ones with VHT nightshade...sorry i dont have a current pic

Is there an official ruling that says theyre not legal. I really like those lights. What if the brake light is red and the turn signals are orange?

It still illegal ACCORDING to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, you cant have all clear tail lights UNLESS there is some type of red reflector on the bumper.....if you look at any newer car that has all clear "altezza" style tail lamps, they ALL have red reflectors somewhere on the bumper or on the trunk lid. Now as far as the putting a red bulb in FOR THE TAIL/BRAKE light...you can do it, yes......CAN AND WILL YOU GET PULLED OVER FOR IT.......thats hard to say,
Like i said i never got pulled over with mine When i had them close to 2 years, but actually looking at in IN THE BRIGHT OF DAY, even LED's are NOT as visible as they should be...THEY LOOK GREAT AT NIGHT, also, you can expect those LED's to die pretty quickly, if you do opt for the tails....and MOST RED 7443 REGULAR filament bulbs that fit those tail lights will be pretty DIM and pinkish anyway, unless you go for LED's
I'm getting ready to go for these, because i dont really like the blacked out ones on my car...IDK if its because i still have my clear sides and my headlights are cleared....

As VQ said, there is a ridiculous amount of info on those links for your hyperground.. I built mine off it with more than enough information. the 3.5 is very similar to the 3.0 which most the links are for.

need help with pcv valve. call me blind, but what the diagram shows doesnt appear that way in front of my car. a little help locating it. according to the diagram it should be where everything is circled, but dont look the same!! thanks!

I have a 2000 maxima gxe and am looking to start picking up some performance bolt ons now that I have a job again.
I'm trying to decide what to get first, a new intake or a ypipe. Cattman no longer has the CAI available for my gen maxima, only the JWolf POP intake - anyone have experience with these in a tropical environment? I live in FL, and am not sure it would be worth getting a warm air intake over a CAI, even when saving $200.
Also, I keep seeing WarpSpeed ypipes for $200. They're the aluminized ones with a ss flex. I can't seem to find any reviews on them, and am not sure I believe their claims of 18-20 hp gains.
To sum up - is a warm air POP intake still going to give me reasonable gains knowing I'm always driving in 80 degree weather or more? Do they have the same awesome rushing sound that CAI deliver? And are these 2" down 2.5" aluminized ypipes by warpspeed a worthwhile purchase?

brakes lights must light and reflect red. as mentioned, if the tails dont reflect, you need a red reflector on the bumper (lexus RX)

I have an 08 Maxima (base SE). Am now wishing I had gotten the nav system. If I find someone selling a factory nav system (i.e. a totaled vehicle or someone upgrading to aftermarket), is it possible to install into my Max and still have steering wheel controls, proper climate control/display, exterior temp, trip computer info, etc? That is, would it have all the 'normal' features of the upgraded stereo?
Would the dash need modification?

I just jhoined too and have a bunch of questions even after I think 3 days reading here!
I just got a 2002 SE loaded with 122k miles, automatic, leather, traction control and need opinions/help on several things.
I paid $7200.00 base price at a used car lot and $8000.00 out the door after fees.
Is that a fair price?
The Car has a history of 2 small accidents in 2004 and 2006 and looks real clean inside and out except for a small rust spot by the passenger side wheel & rear door.
The car is an upstate Ny car as per Carfax and has some rust under the car (expected for a car in this area).
Some problems I found:
- Drivers side rear parking break cable is frozen.
- Coolant lines by the oil pan are rusted and one is leaking.
- Belts need to be replaced.
- Needs 4 tires real soon (225/50/17 performance tires)
- Heat shield rattle (gonna rip that off for now) rusted up exhaust but no leaks - will replace later with upgrade or a stock good one that someone wants to let go cheap.
- Drvers door needs to be adjusted as it makes noise when it hits the latch and will not close easy like the other doors. (it is aligned good with the body lines)
- Left fog light is broken an will need to be replaced. Ebay?
- Auto window down buttons not working. (is there a way to set the up?)
- Trans could use a service. Should I take it to the dealer for that or a trans place?
- Alarm key fob broke off and only have 1 key
The car runs good and is quick but not sure if it had any tune up or other sevice.
What other stuff should I look for?
Any input would be great!

Whats up Steve, Welcome to cardomain, Here are my suggestions. As for the price. I wouldn't say you got a good deal, definatly not ripped of either. Hard to say without seeing the car. As for the problems you have, they are not major ones, but still quiet a few. They should have replaced the tires, coolant leak, and fixed the cable at least. Heres what I would do as for your problems. Some problems I found:[LIST][*]Drivers side rear parking break cable is frozen.
The first, I had an issue with my parking break cable being frozen as well, which would cause my passnger side (rear) caliper to be stuck. ended up having to replace the caliper. As for your situtiaton, most likely why its stuck and frozen, is because of moisture in the line. YOur local nissan dealership will readjust your parking brake assembly for about 40 dollars. Great thing to do (they did that to my clutch pedal also, which fixed this major problem I could not fiqure out) they will return your E-brake assembly to original OEM specs. Do that first. That may defiantly fix the problem. At how many miles you have. You may mostly likely have to replace your caliper. Common for this many miles for the rears

My local dealership sometimes has a special where they will look over the whole vehicle for free, sometimes they charge. I would have them just tell you all the problems if you can, than you can be resourceful and look into themfor the best way. For little odds and ends for your car, try the junk yards for sure.. I am in the middle of restoring any little worn and torn anything on my car, besides modding. with the goal of a new appearance, and alot of things i have found there. and im not even going to mention the dollar savings i get to put into aftermarket performance parts....
