i dont have a problem with your posts here...just starting the pointless opinion thread

remove emblems
1. heat up area with blowdryer
2. use fishing line to pop the emblems off
3. use hairdryer again to heat up sticky padding
4. peal off padding
5. use goo gone to remove anything left

To Nissan or not to Nissan

I need to buy a small suv for my son. I am looking at about a 2000-2002. and am considering a Pathfinder or and xterra. What do you think

-do these year models hold up well

- is there any problem with any of these year or models that i should be concerned with.

- what should i be able to buy if i wanted to spend under $7,000.

- should i be looking at outher models or suv's

Thanks for any help

Did that yesterday, removed the "Maxima" from the back end. Left the SE though. It appears the "Nissan" emblem would leave holes if removed. Is that correct?

Thank you Scottwax, that is the kind of answer i was looking for. So is better to go with white light, I will look into the Osramsilverstars.
Thanks

help please! MAF? doesnt sound like it...

so i started the car today and it ran fine until about an hour later it just lost power, still running i have almost NO power and the engine just runs out of steam at around 4k. then makes a pretty wierd choking noise that sounds more metallic than anything else. this sound is right around 4000 rpm and i dont really try to push it any further but im pretty sure the engine just wont rev past 4k. the car has a really hard time accelerating anytime in any gear. i recentlyreplaced the MAF with an 01 and it ran until today (about 2 weeks later). also today was rainy and humid about 70+ degrees. i have no clue what this problem could be, no CEL and sometimes while driving down the road it wont rev past 2400 rpm. just dies. and when i pull over to restart it it "bounces" at 2400 rpm which as i understand is this engines "safety" when it gets an invalid signal from the MAF. can any one help me please, this is driving me nuts.i went out again and just now tried to start it and itll actually rev to redline now but its really weak above 3k, it also sounds alot different more of a hollow blaaaap sound instead of the grunt you usually get from the vq, when i first got the car 2500 rpm gave a nice growl, but now its like i have the growl throughout the entire rev range, just no hp... also i noticed upon startup there was a little rattle on the downrev ( not revving it high ) but it sounds like there are metal chunks in my cat or something...the engine doesnt do it at idle or while revving up... can anyone help me with this?
... yeah all three at the same time

help

anyone heard anything about what sound like metal flopping around in my cylinders closest to my firewall. it sounds like death, like the engine shouldnt even be running, loss of power, doesnt clunk above 3k. just around 1-2k rpms and when the engine is holding revs, also theres a fairly queit sound that resembles an exhaust leak when the engine downrevs... but the thing is: its not very loud like you would get from an exhaust leak, its very faint and you have to be stopped with the door open and your head leadned out to hear it. the CLUNKing sound immediately goes away when i let off the gas or get on the gas, it wasnt there before today. the power ALMOST (still would get smoked by an 4-gen max) came back and would finally rev past 4k when i cleaned the MAF sensor but theres 2 bad sounds, a horrible (probably an understatement) rattle, and at the same time the intake seams really loud, definately unusually loud and a different tone. Im short of thinking theres half a piston in there just flopping around only because the power it does give past 3k until it just dies in power at 5.5k even though noticably less is still smooth and theres no jerking or cut out... my oil level is fine, butterfly screws still there, no CEL.... im so lost, and broke, i have no idea where to begin...

Oh and sorry about posting twice ive just been driving the car on and off trying to pick up what that noise is after reading other peoples posts and every time i feel i have a little more info to try to help someone help me...

i replaced a toyota camry with this?

Sounds like a thrown rod. Hmmm, not common at all. Soundclips would help. Does it have oil?

yeah ill definately work on getting some soundclips tomorrow. Does have oil, and i threw a little more info in there after you read it (assuming bc of the quote) to help describe it and b/c the last sentence was a little misleading sorry. its really got me because after 3k when i do get on the gas theres no knock and its smooth until it just wont rev anymore, not like a rev limiter just feels like it runs outta steam... im not Very stupid, lol, trying to get my bs in mech engineering but i am a newbie to nissan and reguardless of brand this is one of those things i dont have experience in, it very well could be a rod as i have never experienced one going out. thanks for the reply and ill update with sounds tomorrow.

the car is stopped in a couple as i couldnt pick up the rattle from inside the car and when the camera leaves the tach i put it under the car outside the driver door. . theres a video of inside the car holdong revs, all the while the same rattle as heard in the others is ocurring. and theres one where i get on it a little to show it does rev and thats a stock airbox with the the front part removed, i wish i knew how to say it better, but theres plastic that looks like it's to try to scoop air from the front and reduce noise, anyway i took that off a while ago leaving the airbox with a 4x3 ish inch opening....its louder than before and a noticably different pitch

i also notice that when the engine is coming close to idle and the noise is about to go away which it does when i get on or off the gas, the rattle kinda breaks up and doesnt follow the beat of the engine. meaning like if it was a rod or something the rattle would slow with the engine but still be present at idle? and possibly worse at 5k? i really appreciate the help you guys... im going to bed its been a long day and i cant believe this happened at around 3pm today and its now 5 AM !
