I've read on here that such an intake will do a better job of preserving low-end torque than the Berk and still provides a nice sound. True? What is the disadvantage of such an intake relative to the Berk? Thanks!

Nos?

Just picked up my 2000 Maxima SE today and am still trying to figure out what I will do first...

My question is will nitrous set up on a stock engine make a significant difference in the performance, or does it need to be highly modded? Also, NOS cant be all that good for the engine, right?

I know there are different setups, dry, wet, direct port, blah blah, would any of these be more suited for a stock 3.0 nissan? Thanks alot for any and all help!!

Nitrous for Maximas Forum

And for the record, it's not NOS, it's Nitrous Oxide. N2O

Try reading a lot in there before posting. The information you seek is in there, you just need to look very carefully.

My bad, there is just so much info here, alot useless to me, that looking through every thread would be a waste, especially cause I cant search.. Isnt that what this thread is for.. newbie questions?

Anyway, thanks for the info, thats what I needed...

In the cold morning my car will not stay alive unless I hit the gas and keep it there until it starts to get warm then it will sit there and studder until it gets warm.
Would this be due to and O2 sensor at the cat, or possibly the cat?

I was wondering about getting a HP chip. Are they available for 2k2? And how do I achieve/Install one? Your reply is appreciated.

Don't get it, it's probably a better paper weight than it is a performance enhancer.

Why do you say that? I've heard good things besides i didn't think it could possibly qualify as a paper weight.

There isn't a "real" chip made for the Maxima and the versions found on ebay are a complete ripoff and waste of money.

Thanks. I'm assuming the 3.5 swap is a swap between the 5.0 gen engine and the 5.5 gen engine...

Now, I was reading a post that was talking about an AE kit. What exactly does that include. I'm in the process of buying door sills. What else is there?

I think they say 3.5 Swap when they are taking a 5.5 gen motor and sticking it in a 4th Gen. Though I guess you could say that for a 5 to a 5.5.

AE have the different door sills, pedals, shiftknob, engine cover, front lip, and some other things I believe.

IIRC, the JWT and Stillen are basically the same. Those set-ups do not have a mid-pipe like the Berk and Frankencar intakes, as you already know. The mid-pipe really only smooths the flow of air which probably just makes it sound better. It has been argued that the power curves on the dyno are much smoother with a mid-pipe, but that doesn't alter performance in any practical way, IMO. I think the peak whp is slightly different between the two set-ups, but once again, hardly significant. See if you can find Nmexmax's intake dynos; he's dynoed just about every set-up involving the GAB, POP charger, and short ram.

Yeah, it mostly applies to 4th Gen guys swapping in a VQ35. No one really swaps out the 5th Gen DE-K for a VQ35. Chris's Max did on his 2000 but it turned out to be a pain.

Hey guys,
I have a 2002 6 speed Maxima. When I am accelerating in either 1st, 2nd, or 3rd gear and let go of the gas, the car starts jerking back and forth. The jerky feeling does not happen in 4th, 5th or 6th gear though. Any ideas on what is causing this? If anybody could help, I would really appreciate it. Thanks

Do you know how to drive a standard?

It could be a clutch problem.

Yes, I do. To help clarify my problem of when I encounter this, I'll give an example. I make a turn into my neighborhood and then another turn straight after to get to my house. I make the first turn in 2nd gear and keep it in 2nd until I have completed the second turn. There is a brief period in between the two turns when I let go of the gas in 2nd gear. This is when I feel the car start jerking. I have had no other problems. I hope this helps to clarify the problem. Thanks once again.

Grill Removal

I need to remove the grill on a 2k2. I got the top 4 clips off the 3 nuts on the inside of the grill off. What else do you have to do to get the grill off ? I noticed two clips on the bottom left and right corners of the grill, do they have to do with anything concerning removal of the grill. I tried to lift and or push with my fingers and they dont budge. Didnt want to break it so I stopped.

thanx for the help.

How about taking your worm gear pieces to a machine shop and getting steel ones fabbed from scratch? Couldn't cost near $200, and they'd last forever (just keep 'em greased). Just an idea.
