Sitting here with my awesome Y2K 5spd, tinted windows, 18" wheels and tires, Eibachs in the cellar and a notion to spend more money and get the Tokicos, FSTB, new exhaust and $350.00 worth of bulbs (exterior)and now I'm seriously think about trading up.

I want the faster, better ride and have been hesitant about going through the pains of making my ride "just right" by installing more goodies.

If the 2K3 is the right choice then I'm doin' my Y2K up now. But if the 2K2 is the way to go, then maybe I wait and put the goodies on the new Max.

Anyone care for editorial comments? Pros and Cons?

It depends. We know what the 2k2 is going to be. Some rumors surround the 2k3 that it will move into "fat cow sedan" status. I personally am going to go for a 2k2 because I got an auto 2k (BIG MISTAKE) and I also got no options. I want hids, a stick (6 speed!), leather, sunroof etc.

Now if I had a 5 speed 2k with leather and sunroof, I'd just spend the money to dress it up (more financially sound). It just depends on how much money you want to burn. I could get a Supercharger for the hit I'm gonna take. Even with that supercharger though, I wouldn't have a stick (one of my main desires).

I'd personally go with the 2k2. Who know's what the 2k3 would be like so i wouldn't risk it but you could wait, the 2k2 models will go on sale right before the new 2k3 models come out. By then you could get a good look at the 2k3 through the org.

As much as I've loved the Nissan Maxima *yes, I know we've had this conv. b4* I think it's a huge mistake for redesigning so quick, I think Nissan digging their own grave by doing so, maybe it's just me...If I where in your position I'd wait for the 2003, I wouldn't waste my money on a car which I know will be outdated soon, I mean some people don't car, I on the other hand get ****ed off when someones like ohhh you have an "old" maxima..... Well even though I'm stayin with my 2K I'm still diing of curiousity about the 2003, the 2002 in my opinion except for the 6 speed and 240 pony engine is alot worst looking than the 2000/2001 I mean all the cars think there cool cause they make STOCK altezzas (Lexus IS300/RX300, New Passat, and now Maxima) man I saw an IS300 with red lights I guess someone made or bought, just a few months ago rice boys where buying white altezza style lights now there gonna be buying red lights JEEZ the world is mad,

:jump:

Okay well thats my opinion, I say pimp your current Max, wait for the 2003, and then make up your decision, if you dont like the 2003 than I say buy a civic dude, lol J/K of course

I agree with punkdork in that you're a lot more than half-way there to already having a car of 2K2's caliber. Just have fun, mod it if you can, and enjoy it otherwise you'll lose lots financially just for wanting the 2K2. Just my editorial...:)

In my case.....

I am trying to see what the 6th Gen looks like. If it looks decent, I might get that. But if it looks whacked, I am getting a 2002 or even a 2001 AE. :D

I guess great minds do think alike=) But all i can say is:"Good things comes to those who wait."
I was thinking about a new A4,type-S,audiTT,S2k....to replace my max next year, but when this 260hp news came out, i thought i can just reuse my 18s and get a even better car! 'Cause my interior really sucked compare to the 01' or newer models and just imagine the other nitty bitty goodies. I always buy aftermarket wheels 2 days into a new ride, so that way i save about 2k anyway. However, i wish they would restyle it a little more for 03' or newer models, so i wont feel like im getting another "the same". Or i can just get the lighter 240hp Altima..GASP!!
