Early 2000 SE's with 16" OEM wheels?

I am looking at a 2000 5 speed right now for purchase. It is apparently a "loaded" SE, however it has 16" wheels instead of the ususal 17s. I know early 00's came with these. Did cars equipped with these wheels lack any other equipment? Any other things to watch out for with early 00 model years besides the MAF/Coils?

Here is a pic of the exact car:

Thanks

I thought all 2000 SE's came with 17's? Do you think they swapped wheels with a GLE?

SoonerFan Nov 21, 2006 12:33 PM

i know that early GLEs had the 16s

Maxfli Nov 21, 2006 12:39 PM

If that is the car in question, those are not GLE rims...they are SE rims.

2000 SE came standard with 16s and had optional 17s. If you wanted a sunroof on a 2000 SE, you had to buy the Comfort & Convenience Package, which got you the 17s and some other stuff.

You can see all the options/configurations on the Nissan website archives:

Click the links along the top of the page to see additional info..."Specifications" give you the wheel sizes among other things.

Good to know.... Cool link on the '00 Options.

17s didn't become an option until about 4 months after the 5th gen was released. So a lot of the cars had sunroofs, but with 16s.

The 17's were a stand-alone option. You can get an SE fully loaded without the 17's.

Not true.

there were 2 comfort & convenience packages, the one with the 17's added $200 to the price of the package.

V-rated tires, offered as part of the SE Comfort and Convenience Package, enhance handling and give a performance look.

Great link:

SE Comfort and Convenience Package - includes sunroof, 8-way power driver's seat, HomeLink® Universal Transceiver, cargo net, variable intermittent wipers, 17-inch alloy wheels with

V-rated tires

EDIT: This car has a sunroof. Hmm...I wonder if canadian spec vehicles came with different option packages.

I read an American review of the '00 Maxi which stated the 17" wheels were "late availability" which I believe is a direct quote from the sales brochure. Canadian and American option packages are very often different. Some packages are different just because the basic standard equipment is different. i.e. Air conditioning not part of the basic equipment on Canadian "base models". (not Maxis thank goodness) And we get ripped for price up here as well. Toyota/Lexus doesn't even offer some "highend extra" options on their cars here.

Very nice site indeed.

SE's started with a 5 spoke 16" rim ONLY! A few months later SE's came ONLY w/ 17". I have a first run 17 and had to fight for it.

NOT TRUE!!!!

Maxfli Nov 21, 2006 06:47 PM

I stand corrected on the "late availability" 17s if it's true...

I was crusing the Nissan site while researching what 5th gen Max to buy (I wanted to know what options/packages were available) and found the "Archive" section on their site. A wealth of info on the older models...kudos to Nissan on making it available to all.

Soonerfan - I downloaded all the '03 stuff too when I was searching for my car.

Yup the option packages seem completely different north of the border. I was looking through SE's on autotrader, and many of them with the 16s have a sunroof, but appeared to be cloth, which means they may be lacking the auto climate control too.

XyNoix-HIC Nov 22, 2006 01:04 PM

I have 00 se with Sunroof 215/55/16 V rated tires

P. Samson Nov 22, 2006 02:44 PM

Jeez....I thought the sunroof and leather went together. My SE is late Sept. production, leather, side airbags, sunroof, auto climate and the 17" and 225/50s V rated.

That is a awesome website loaded with some cool information. I never knew that excisted.

igzy Nov 26, 2006 03:42 PM

Based on this, it seems that the 17" were later introduced as an option (showing as SOP 7/99, so if it was made before it, it likely had 16")...
